With it being election season in Indiana, I cannot attend. Anyone else going?

I was planning on going but just found out this morning that I have confirmation practice tonight at 7. Pretty bummed because I was looking towards going to this.

Was planning to go, but I've been dealing with the aftermath of our hot water heater springing a leak sometime Sunday night. Getting a new one installed this afternoon, which will probably run into early evening.

Is this the same as the season ticket holder thank you social or is the banquet a separate event.

I am yes to the season ticket holder event.

Sounds like tonight replaces the banquet: awards, etc.

Seems like a dumb idea to shut out non season ticket holders.

Edit:

Correction. It is a dumb idea to exclude non season ticket holders. Make it free for seasons and pay for non.

Or make it open to anyone who bought at least one ticket.

No doubt, I don't recall them ever restricting access to the banquet before. Why do something to honor the team without a significant portion of your fan base?

I will be boycotting this evening's event, and will stand in solidarity with my non-season ticket holding brethren.

What was the attendance like at these things the last few years? Maybe the pay as you go crowds were small? I don't mind them having something for season ticketholders. But I can see why non-ticket holders would be upset.

I signed up a long time ago before remembering that today is my wife's birthday. So needless to say, I won't be going.

Nevermind. Didn't realize they were serving beer.

I like a guy who sticks to his guns! And your guns are apparently beer. Enjoy.

Congrats to last night's award winners, and the whole team for the first BE season.

How was attendance? I completely forgot about it.

Enjoyed the event last night. Was nice to hear a little bit about the players from Mack and get to talk to all the players. Most of the team was available after to autograph stuff, as was Mack and Joe Sundermann.

The panoramic view picture of the tip-off of Xavier's first Big East game is AWESOME! And it's huge! Everyone who is a season ticker holder, who registered and showed up, was given one. Looks very nice, although likely expensive to frame because of it's size.

Greg Christopher reported 800 fans in attendance...realistically there were MAYBE 400. Still larger than recent "Banquets."

400 maybe came for the free beer, and 400 stayed for speeches. Total, 800 came

It was a nice evening. I got the impression that Mack doesn't care for the banquet. He called it too formal and impersonal. So they wanted to try something different.

So you had the usual season recap and player awards, with some appetizers (chicken tenders, fried ravioli, Saratoga chips, popcorn) and a cash bar. Contrary to popular rumor there was no free beer. They specifically said the drink tickets were for non alcoholic beverages.

The panoramic print/poster they gave out ok the way in way very nice and yes I bet framing that will cost a pretty penny. The program, hosted by Joe Sundermann lasted about 45 minutes and include presentations by Greg Christopher and Chris Mack, followers by the 5 player awards.

Some interesting notes.

Season ticket mailers go out later this week.
Non conference schedule due to be released in June

Greg has been working on a roadmap for the future of Xavier Athletics. That now us the Boards blessing and should be released this summer. He made a big point to mention the plan includes freshening up Cintas. He was careful I be clear it's not quite a renovation but they have outlined several areas for improvement.

Chris Mack talked about the Brazil trip, which is to include 4 games in the span of about 7 days. One of those games is with the Brazilian national team and he hinted the team really has it's work cut out for them that night. Also made light that they better remember they are there to play ball not relax on the beach.

Autograph sessions followed and the book store even had a stand selling balls and sharpies.

The attendance was announced as 800 but I think that was reservations made not bodies in the door.

As a Lew Hirt Society Charter Member, I am proud of this:

"Dee Davis was tabbed for the Lew Hirt Society Coach's Award by standing out in a significant way during the season. Davis led XU in assists (4.7) and was second in the Big East."

I'm hoping for a huge senior season out of Dee. The team needs his experience at the point and I feel like a lot of our success is riding on his shoulders. Who votes for/decides on that award, MOR? Is it you esteemed LHS fellows or the coaches?

The Coaches. We merely sponsor. Although I do agree with the choice.

The last thing you want is any of us scofflaws making decisions that the experts should. That would be as big a disaster as one of us telling Frank Lloyd Wright how to build a house.

Hot damn. Maybe they'll put something up on that blank blue wall.

maybe they could do something creepy like at Hinkle where they have that wall with fans painted on it. No, not really...
