Great for Dante. Hopefully he can help get that NKU program competitive in the A-Sun soon. They've got a long way to go.

Good for Dante! He has a bright future ahead of him and deserves all the success in the world. One of the best to ever represent our school.

Two more transitional years. I think they'll be able to attract good players to that program (by ASun standards). It's just a really hard sell to recruits when you're ineligible for postseason play.

Didn't Burrell just come back as a Grad. Assistant? This could be to make room and give Dante and chance to advance to assistant at a smaller program. Do we know what his position is at NKU?

No that was an April Fools joke by Stan.

Dante will be an assistant coach at NKU.

Yeah and NKU has good basketball facilities in the Bank of Kentucky Center. The women's program has already had some success in D1 making the WBI (women's version of the CBI) both years.

It's a great facility. NKU tickets are cheap entertainment. Bought 4 tickets on Ticketmaster to their game against Dunk U last month for like $32. Great seats too.

Yes. He did when he was at Ohio. You won't have to refollow him or anything. It'll do it automatically.

Anyone know what qualifies someone to be a "graduate assistant" like Dante was for Xavier?

My understanding is they can only be a GA for 2 seasons. I don't even know if they get paid, and if they do, I think it is not much of a paycheck.

In spite of his April Fools joke, don't see Burrell coming back for a GA position, he is making good money and has a nice career going.

Generally you have to be pursuing a graduate degree at the University. Most pay a stipend (i saw Akron is paying $10K) plus tuition waiver.

And you do have to attend classes and be enrolled in school, correct? That was always my assumption. It was one of the reasons I knew Burrell's April Fools prank was a joke. He isn't going to go back to school.

Xavier won't replace Dante with another coach either, it will have to be a GA. We don't have a GA every year, although we have had more lately than we used to.

Congrats Dante! Perhaps he climbs the coaching ladder and we see him on the Muskie bench for a third time?

If true (and I think it would be awesome) X will lose it's best "Time-Out" entertainment in the history of Cintas (with apologies to the Kahns Krazies).

Based on twitter, I believe a former manager will be filling Dante's role as a grad assistant

I only know this because I worked with both arenas, but the Bank of Kentucky Center is the EXACT same design as the Cintas Center. The major difference is the acoustical treatment. NKU wanted their facility designed to be more quiet so they could have different events in there like concerts. XU wanted the space to be louder at basketball games.

Both spaces hold concerts with great sound systems, but the room at NKU is acoustically quieter. (They also have different courts and amenities, but I mean as far as the bones of the two places.)

The Bank of Kentucky Center is so nice, that I read that some of the sports conferences NKU was petitioning to join did not want NKU because their facilities would instantly be better than ever other school. It would cause recruiting issues amongst players looking at all schools in that conference.

Didn't the NKU group tour Cintas during the design stage?

No idea, but that wouldn't surprise me. Aside from the arena space, both facilities can be used for conferences, as there are multiple rooms with presentation technology built in. Banquet rooms, etc.

This is all true.

Cintas was a big inspiration for the BOK Center.

When NKU first drew up plans to go D1 they wanted to go to the Horizon. But the Horizon wasn't interested in a program going through the D2 to D1 transition. So they later targeted Sun Belt, but fell one vote short because some schools were worried with NKU's facilities and lack of football program, they could dominate the conference.
