I don't know how many of you ever read, hell, even KNEW about this blog site. It was dedicated to the level of Division 1 basketball that was not played at the "Big Six" Conference level and was always a great read. It lasted for 10 years, but as of today, it is over. Kyle Whelliston, the founder and chief author has decided to end it. Too bad.

However, let us not forget that, up until this season, we were one of those places that was fighting for recognition, that we were the "David" vs the Goliaths. That we had been dismissed, demeaned and disrespected. We always had the chip on the shoulder. WE used to be the "Guarantee Game".

Below is an article from the Mid Majority archives that is all about Xavier- in March, 2010- right before we were to take on Kansas State in that memorable game. I never want to forget what we used to be because it forged what we are today. I have saved this article and printed it as my preferred memory of the Mid-Majority and where Xavier's piece fits into the history of Mid-Major basketball. As Kyle wrote:
"I believe that Xavier has provided the perfect blueprint for the future of small college athletics" While we may take issue with that classification, and Kyle does think that our administrators used "poor public relations" in fighting the MM tag, he lauds Xavier with this line that relates to his website: "..This is what our mission has been about for the last 6 years (2010)- trying to figure out how programs can distinguish themselves in this chaotic world of Division 1 hoops, how to establish quality and consistency at a high level. Xavier's cracked the code, and the ingredients are right there in front of us. It should be considered an honor and a privilege that there's confusion as to what they are."

I hope that you all enjoy this and fondly remember this great college basketball website.

One of the great deceptions pulled off in athletics in the last 20 years was the powers that be in BCS leagues finding a way to have everyone outside the BCS lumped together in the minds of the majority of (the idiots) college basketball fans. Your average Kentucky fan (and I'm not picking on Kentucky specifically; UNC fans are the same way) essentially thinks the A-10 and OVC are the same thing. It's sad.

The guy can seriously write. In the world of blogs/postings, this is truly great, absolutely astounding writing. I hope he (they?) are just leaving so that they can get paid, because if they left just because they are burned out, it's truly a loss to sports journalism.

That's because no one but power conference member has won the big won in that time, and only UNLV really before then.
Every now and them someone breaks through to the final four (Wichita, VCU, etc.) and once in a while they play in the last game.(Butler)

ESPN hired Whelliston for a year or two, but i don't think he "fit in". I don't even know what I mean by that, but something seemed off there.
