Whenever these two play in the tournament, I feel the need to dig up this video. It's interesting to watch, if for no other reason it tells the history of the series, and you get to see what CBS's coverage of the tournament of the tournament used to look like. I was three years old when they met for the first time. They've played every year during the season since.
I'm not a Louisville fan anymore, but I'm pulling for them tonight.

Slimy Calamari vs. Quick Rick Spitino.
Think I'll go with Quick Rick.

I'm going to a Wichita State baseball game tonight rather than watch this hot mess.

Ironic Fact #1 - Joe B. Hall and Denny Crum both have had a radio show in Louisville for quite some time now.
Ironic Fact #2 - the most significant game played in Tennessee's old arena didn't even have UT playing.

This matchup was completely contrived by the Selection Committee, but I am still a sucker for it (as is the rest of college basketball fandom). This is fun.
Wichita State most of all should be pissed Kentucky got dropped to an 8 seed just to set up their matchup and this matchup.

There could be riots in the stands. Blue amongst red. Red amongst blue. Cats living with dogs. Lions living with Zebras.

Hate is fun. That's my motto.
I don't know if it was necessarily contrived by the selection committee. I just think they blew the seeds for both teams. If they were going to contrive something, make Louisville a #3 and Kentucky a #6 and have them potentially meet in the round of 32. That would have actually made more sense.

It was apparently pretty crazy before the game even started. Apparently there have been a couple of arrests.

This is great stuff. I'm not condoning arrests because if you can't keep it within the context of the game then it kind of ruins it and it's just completely stupid, but I love this kind of venom when it is kept within the context of the game. This is why I want Xavier to keep playing UD and UC. Hate is good....within the context of the game.

I mostly find the UK/UL rivalry stupid these days, and I'm glad I don't live there anymore. As a general matter I don't like either fanbase. Obviously I like Kentucky's a lot less.

I agree. And to think that it used to be such a highly intellectual rivalry.
I was in and out so I may have heard this wrong, but didn't Sir Charles say Louisville couldn't play with Kentucky and the Wildcats were sure to win? I find him amusing (other than his golf swing which used to be amusing but now gives me anxiety attacks) so I hope he didn't have a large wager on this. I post this now to allow time for the jinx to set in. But since they can't both lose, I guess I'm rooting for him to lose his shirt! (If I heard it right)

Wow! Great game, but I wish they'd have these early and have the blow outs past my bedtime. Maybe the west coast is the place to be.

Certainly not the Charles Barkley golf swing replay! If they can't tell by now the ruling should stand!

Terrible call on Randle.
Free throws can be kinda important. We should remember that for next year...

15 years ago, that game would have killed me. Tonight I only watched about 5 minutes of the game, and I'm not even disappointed UK won. I think I hate Calipari less.

I thought the game turned on the play where Jones hit his head on the floor. Smith was on the bench for the play. Louisville missed a shot, and instead of resetting having a new shot clock, Jones & Co kept going back at the rim.

No.
"Indisputable evidence" should be just that. Indisputable. If it takes you more than 90 seconds to decide, then there must be some sort of dispute. By definition, it's not indisputable. So, get on with the game!!

Louisville fans will not get over this. It may take....I don't know how long. Some things you just don't get over.
I agree. I actually agree with the time frame. I stopped caring about Louisville basketball more than life about fifteen years ago. It would have killed me. It killed a lot of Louisville fans. They will not feel good about anything for the next few months.

This game did not turn out well for my bracket. In fact, it completely destroyed it.

I didn't read the first two pages of this thread, so if this has already been said, I apologize:
I only wish there would have been some way that both teams could have lost this game (without injuries being a factor).

Sir Charles said that Louisville could not win the game, not that they couldn't play with UK. He then went on the say that UK would win the game.
He got a lashing from the old osu guy ... but ... again .. Sir Charles was right.
I have great respect for all of the people in Kentucky, and for the people who have and are coaching in all sports. I don't understand why so many XU people "hate" them. I know, I go way back, but UK used to play us frequently, but Coach Rupp ended that after George Krajack berated him. And financially, the UK football game kept us afloat for a long time. UK hated UC BTW!

I hate them because Calipari is making a mockery of the educational system.
