Lots of tweets speculating its Justin, Brandon. Myles, or Dee.

I'd guess Myles. Bluiett, Macura, Sumner, and Abell all can play his position and offer more than he can.

I hate to hear this. I understand we need the scholarship spot, but I still hate to hear it.

Dee doesn't make any sense to me just because he's going to be a senior. I don't know why he'd want to go it out somewhere unless Mack is essentially pulling his scholarship.
Martin would make sense as he could transfer without having to it out.
If Semaj is going anywhere he's going pro. Stain wouldn't transfer after just getting here.
I know people have mentioned Myles, but that would surprise me after he paid his way for a year. Maybe Mack is pushing him out?
Those are the only guys that played what I would consider to be major minutes.

That's most likely Myles.
Unless Brandon is unhappy with the minutes he saw even as a freshman? I don't know.

It's not Myles.

It can happen when a team has more players than schollys and the players coming in rate higher than many of the ones already here. In fact, after the one-on-one post season individual player assessments, it may be that some players are being "encouraged" to look elsewhere. Assuming that conversation is allowed under NCAA rules.

I had seen we were mentioned as a possibility for Ronnie Johnson which had me scratching my had a bit as we're 2 over.
I should have known player defections might be behind it.

Brandon and Myles didn't play significant minutes. I expect 2 or 3 to transfer.

My guess would be Brandon. Might want to get back closer to the west coast/family and it would seem his battle for minutes won't get any easier going forward. If Semaj is back, Randolph would be battling him, D.Davis, M.Davis, Sumner, Macura, and others for time. My other guess would be M.Davis for the same reasons.
My fear would be Martin. I would absolutely hate losing him because it seems the light has finally gone on and stayed on for him. He can really be an impact player for X and losing him would hurt.
As for Dee...just don't see it at this stage. Maybe he fears being shoved to a back-up role next year, but he'll probably have first crack at the starting PG gig. Then again, maybe he has grown tired of fans blaming him for everything!
Any chances that it's Reynolds? I wouldn't think so, but maybe his mini-suspension (or something else) has him looking at other opportunities. Again, I would doubt it, but you never know.

Every player always has a sit down with the head coach talking about expectations for next season and what he would like to see them work on. But Vee is right, I wonder if you're allowed to just come out and say, "hey this isn't going to work out for you".

The only reason I don't think it is Brandon i because they said someone who played significant minute. I 13 minutes a game significant? I guess, depending on how you look at it.

Scholarships are renewable on a year to year basis. Mack/ XU can simply say that the scholarship won't be renewed if they wanted to be dicks about it.

My best guess is that it is someone who will most likely graduate after three years. Not three years on the floor but three years in college. Read between the lines.

It looks bad to take away a scholarship but if guys don't get the job done then it's understandable. The school is spending a lot of money on them to perform in basketball. We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes either.

I'm pretty sure if a coach tells a kid that he won't pull the scholly but that the minutes won't be there, a kid will usually decide on his own to bolt. Why put in all the time and effort when you're basically assured of not playing? Obviously that's the life of a walk-on, but a kid on scholly can usually go to a lesser program and play legit minutes or even start.

If I'm reading your post right we don't have a guy who has been in school three years that hasn't played three year.
Justin has been in school 4 years, but played three.
Myles and Jalen have been in school for two years and played one.

If it's about Martin, I just don't understand his mindset. Had a terrific year this past year and is going to be a senior this upcoming year to lead the team. Plus IMO they have a great shot at making a run in the tournament

Yes and no. As a matter of contract they can. As a matter of practice pulling a scholarship is EXTREMELY rare and can have significant repercussions. Much like in the business world, there's a big difference between what you can do and what you should do.

This is exactly how it happens. Coaches rarely pull scholarships. And they really don't need to. These kids want to play ball. If you tell them they aren't going to play much, and that while they are welcome back you are also willing to help try to place them somewhere they will play, they will almost always take the latter option.

There are so many different reasons that someone transfers it's not even worth listing some of them. Transfers are very common now, and they don't always meet conventional wisdom. Have you heard Buzz Williams left Marquette for VA Tech?
Keep an open mind.

If Davis graduates he can play right away with a school that offers a Masters program that Xavier does not. I don't know if he is on pace but that could be the case. Reynolds was flashing the X all the time, he isn't going anywhere. The only reason Martin could leave is if he wanted to jump on a team that had the potential to really win it all.---(If Maj stays, I think with him/Martin/Stain Xavier could have its best team since the last elite 8 run. I am talking jumping on at AZ, Duke, MSU...)

My guess is Brandon Randolph.
A) His father on the West Coast has had health issues and he'd probably want to get back closer.
B) His minutes decreased for a number of reasons.
C) We have a stud in Edmond Sumner coming in and are still recruiting hard for another PG in the 2015 class.
I understand his motivations. Whatever, and whoever the player is, he is a Musketeers until he's not....and I thank him for his contributions.

I spent a little while browsing videos of Sumner last night and he is the real deal imho. 6'5 with long arms and big time leaping ability. His page has him taking a couple seperate pics with Lebron and CP3 that make him look a legit 6'5. He also seems to have some alpha dog in him. I believe we have a lot to look forward to.

I want Randolph to stay. I think his growth was stunted by Mack a little bit. The guy looked good when he was playing 30+ minutes during Dee's absence. It's hard to get in a grove when you are only playing one minute each half.

This. These are OUR guys until something changes. Cannot stand it when people wish someone off the team. Martin came around and now everyone seems to love the kid. Who's to say Myles won't get better? Or Farr continues to improve at that rate? Or what about Randolph working on any weaknesses and becoming the sophomore stud that we all love?
Whoever leaves, best of luck to him. But until then, he's a Muskie.
