View Full Version : Just Throwing This Out There

Hey just throwing this out there now that the season is over. I personally hated the new rules in college basketball with the block charge and when a guy was or was not able to slide in front of a shooter. I also don't like the emphasis on hand checking. I know there is no chance of this happening but thought I would throw it out there for food for thought. Keep the hand checking rules but go back to the way old way of how a block or charge is supposed to be called not this garbage we saw this year. In addition to that how about lowering the shot clock down to 30 seconds from 35. You wanna see offensive efficiency improve then lower the shot clock. Just my opinion but anyone have thoughts?

I think there will continue to be some tweaking of how those rules are interpreted and called, as there was during the year. I had no real problem with the hand checking rules, except that they were called so inconsistently from game to game, and even sometimes during a game. I think the charge rule interpetation has been a mistake from the beginning, as it penalizes some very good defensive play and hasn't really helped to open up the offenses.

I amin favor of 30 second shoot clock. I don't like seeing games in 40-s and 50's. I wish Ohio HS would adopt it too.

I don't necessarily agree that a decrease in the shot clock will lead to an increase in scoring at the college level. There are already too many forced shots and zero ability to make 15-18 footers...a shorter shot clock would make this worse.

I'd like to see them take away the ability for a coach to call timeout when play is going on. It's about as dumb as when a player could call timeout falling out of bounds.

24. Scoring may not improve, but the game would be more fun.
It's the minor league for the NBA so you might as well act like it.
Move the 3 pt line back too.

I had that same philosphy until I worked in an AD at a high school for a bit. It's the only way some schools can even hope to compete against some powerhouse school. Run the clock and keep moving the ball. Its boring and it sucks to watch, but once playoffs start, some farm town school wouldn't be able to hang on the court with one of the powerhouse programs.
