Xavier basketball wins championships. We've got champions in that locker room! Unfortunately, at this point all of them are coaches. It's time for Xavier to get back to winning championships, and let's face it, this team is not likely to win 6 games in the NCAA Tournament. If we're going to win a championship, it's going to be this weekend, and the biggest roadblock comes tonight. With a win tonight, Xavier will be in a great position to bring out the scissors in Madison Square Garden in March. And this isn't some Dayton consoloation round Garden party, this is the Big East F&%&ing Tournament of Patrick Ewing and Chris Mullin and Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony and Ray Allen and on and on. And Xavier has a chance to cut down the nets.
Be champions Muskies! It's what we do, and it's time for this group to finally be a part of that tradition.

The previous three Big East Champs made it to the Final Four, and two of which won the NCAA Championship. Let's hope this trend continues!

Any time anyone quotes Hammer they get reps. Love that man!
Totally agree about winning this tourney. IMO, X is playing with House money in their match-up against Creighton. If they lose it's not a bad loss, so they technically have nothing to lose and should play like it.
Come On Muskies!!!!

I actually think playing Creighton makes it less imperative that Big Matt can play significant minutes. Against Creighton, they spread you out so much that having Matt in there isn't necessarily the best match-up. Jalen is much more athletic and hopefully, Jimmy Farr can continue his defensive progress.
Would be a good game to spot Matt with limited minutes, IMO.
And.....Hell Yeah anytime ANYBODY quotes Hammer. The best. Guy HAS to ge into the Xavier HOF

The game at Cintas Creighton doubled Matt most of the game leaving Martin and Davis wide open for all those 3s they hit.

If they don't double Jalen, he'll eat them alive. No worries on that one. We need to defend out with our bigs. I have no concern about our offense. Have to defend.

Would be a way to greatly prove the pundits wrong twice. Predicted 7th in preseason and ended 3rd. Not predicted to sniff the tourney championship, but do so anyway. Also a great way to kick off the inaugural BE season by letting the conference know what they face in future years with X in the conference.

What Go said. Let's win the whole fu**ing thing.
As for Creighton, when we won at Cintas we held those players not named McDermott to 23% shooting from the 3 point line, and 34% overall. Clamping down on the supporting cast again, particularly Wragge, is the key to winning again. The fact that we can be athletic and physical at the same time makes us a bad match-up for a finesse team like Creighton, especially if they're getting harassed when they're shooting their 3's.
Stainbrook sure opens things up offensively, but he's not a necessity on the defensive end so I wonder like the rest of you just how many minutes he'll play. Then again, it's tournament time and if he was good to go last night (and the knew didn't swell up too much overnight) I can see him playing as much tonight as he did last night.

Looking for a big X win tonight, but if not we need to be big Providence fans. They are 51 in Live RPI and a win tonight and tomorrow gives them automatic bid and puts them into top 50. That helps both in terms of X having beaten them and Creighton. SH winning tonight and Xavier losing isn't killer, but it's of no help.
