Since we have an "Ohio State is not good" thread, we might as well have a "UK is not good" thread.
They have to be one of the most disappointing teams of all time.
Pat Forde really taking Cal to task in this column.
Ouch...

Ouch is right!

Calapari ought to have the guts to show up at a press conference after he loses.

At least Forde said that Cronin made an ass of himself yesterday.

I'd say Forde has a boner for Calipari. No homo.

I love it.

Calipari is number one on my list of least respected coaches.

He's an ass clown and has proven it over and over again.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Calipari's wins are more a product of the talent of the players than his coaching ability...by a wide margin. If you gave him the same talent as Coach K, Calipari would lose 9/10 times. The one win takes into account an off day by Coach K's team. Hell, put him against someone like Sean Miller, a guy who hasn't won a championship yet, and I think Cal loses at least 60% of the time and probably more.

Maybe I'm not giving him enough credit because I think he's a d-bag. But for a guy that has had so much talent the last few years, the results have been underwhelming. Yes, he won it with the Anthony Davis team. I think that was a result of the players carrying him, not his coaching leading them.

(Here's a unique battle: same talent on each team, Calipari vs Crean. I bet those two idiots would have an even 50/50 split.)

I'd say Forde has a boner for Calipari. No homo.

I lived in Lexington last year, and working at the Buffalo Wild Wings jsut down the road from Rupp...there was no doubt that the whole city had a boner for him. He'd be lined up to be interviewed on First Take with fellow D-bag Skip Bayless and we'd have people demanding that the interview be put on sound. I'm sure I could heave a sell out in the restaurant and break record sales if we just brought in Cal and allowed each person who paid $10 to litereally kiss his ass. It was sickening.

His NCAA violations at UMass and Memphis? "Not his fault. It was all on the universities..." Or, "Yeah, but he doesn't need to cheat now. He's at God's school." Seriously...that last one was a real answer.

I was never impressed with his coaching skills. The man could sell ice to eskimos but he couldn't tell them how to use it.

Lest no one forget that Memphis was ahead of Kansas by 3 at the very end of the National Championship game when Rose was at Memphis in 2008, and Calapari pulled the same thing his buddy the Desert Racoon did...not foul when he hd the chance. Kansas hits a game tying 3...and the rest is history.

Must be something about guys from Beaver, PA.

I think the one and dones are finally starting to bite Cal in the ass. It is incredibly difficult to turn your roster over every year and build a program. I agree the talent carries him farther than his coaching. However, if you give Cal a group of kids that has been at the school for a few years, with only a couple one and dones sprinkled into the mix, he would sustain success much better than he is now.

Coach Cal is a very good coach. He is slimy, egotistical, and full of crap but most coaches at his level are.

I think it's just more noticable at how good the Unibrow and Kidd-Gilcrest were. One-and-done's are biting him int he ass in the first place. But he sells kids that if they go through him, they get national publicity and scouts every night. Not too mention a pedigree of making cash...be it during or after playing at UK.

You cant have it both ways.

You cant bring in 3-4 of the top 15 recruits every year and not expect a huge amount of turnover.

What Calipari isnt doing is building a program thats sustainable year in and year out.

You reap what you sew.....I love it.
