As well as the Xavier team played across the board, I just want to highlight the particular play of Matt Stainbrook passing out of the post sealing the win for Xavier.
He did it well all game, but come crunch time Xavier particularly made them pay for doubling Stainbrook. From about the 4 minute mark to the 2 minute mark, Xavier played perfect basketball. Creighton repeatedly doubled Stain, he made the great out pass, and his teammates executed.
Hat tip to the coaches for sticking with going inside at this point, rather than just relying on your ballhandlers to create something.
Great day, great win, great team.

X-cellent observation... Cu was afraid to man up on Matt. Changed the complexion of the game entirely.

No doubt it was huge. They double teamed him every time he touched the ball. They knew they couldn't handle him. His ability to draw that type of attention and be such keen passer makes us tough to beat. Mack called it a "hockey assist" in the post game show, noting that we scored many times off the pass right after Stain kicked it out.
If two guys are on you somebody is open, and our ability to kick it out and rotate it killed them. Stain didn't have a huge stat sheet, but he was a big part of the victory.

Can't private rep because Muskie's Iron Curtain of Doom is fully drawn, but Public Reps! Absolutely correct.

Not just hockey assists either....he had FOUR basketball assists. He also made a couple of very good passes to help break the press at the end of the game, and don't forget the GREAT outlet pass he made to Martin I believe. It didn't lead to a basket, but did lead to a foul, which led to two free throws.
I also loved the way that Reynolds would get a rebound and then wrap the ball up in his huge arms to protect it, and NOT try to make a quick pass. Really showed great smarts and valuing of the ball there, at a time when X just needed to control the ball and the clock.

Maybe even more important than Stainbrook's ability to pass is his understanding of WHEN to pass.. I don't remember him forcing a shot when he was doubled. It sounds simple, but Stainbrook's ability to understand that he just has to make the smart play in order for his team to be successful is a great asset for Xavier.
Stainbrook does a fantastic job of passing out of the double team

Agree on all points, and he changed the game by drawing fouls on Wragge and getting him out of the game.

Xavier is an utterly more potent unit when they can run the offense through Stainbrook. He is such a skilled and smart basketball player. Stainbrook is a warrior.
I appreciate that Jalen was trying to match his game, looking to swing the ball out of the post to the open man first and taking down the quality shot when it was there.

Matt Stainbrook is an excellent passer, an excellent player, a winner on the court, a winner in life, and an Uber driver.

I took my first Uber ride last night. I always used Lyft but they left Columbus because of some new regulations they didnt want to agree to. Wish Stain drove in Cbus!
