Regardless of what you think about this season's results, we have to move forward and plan the team's future.
The consensus of all the threads is that Stainbrook and Semaj are the only players whose games are consistently positive.
Everyone has highly divergent opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of all the others.
But everyone sees the huge upside of Reynolds and Farr.
Please comment on why you would not start and give big minutes to Semaj at I, Martin at 2 , Reynolds , Farr and Stainbrook underneath.
That puts the best you have on the floor and builds for the future.
To go to,the Dance and get crushed in the first game means little to me if I can build for the future.
I trust you will tell me where I am wrong.

Sorry, but I hate that kind of logic. Teams, people, and companies, that wake up and say well today just isn't going to work but there is always next year never get to next year. That is defeatism at its worst, you play to win now. It's an awful cliche, but tomorrow is never guaranteed.
Edit: In response to that why that lineup wouldn't work is because any team that can halfway shoot from behind the arc would absolutely annihilate us. And incase you didn't know, there are some teams in our conference that can shoot pretty well from the 3.

Your only adjustment here is Reynolds and Farr. Farr is just not starter material. I agree with you on Reynolds, but not because I want him to develop more for our future. This whole argument is pretty dumb considering that we only have 2 players who are graduating this year and guaranteed to leave. Also, if you really felt this way, you would say bench Semaj for Randolph since all indications are that Semaj is going to the league next year.

Dee Semaj Jmart Isaiah Stain.
Hate on Isaiah all you want, but I think he's our best option. Reynolds and Farr have both shown flashes when Isaiah has fallen flat, but Isaiah has shown streaks this year. Also I'm still holding out hope the Isaiah at the end of last year shows up at the end of this year. Time for him to go into Senior mode. Reynolds and Farr with both be better players, but for this season Isaiah is our best option to win.
Also you don't "plan for the future" when you have a shot at the tourney. You always play your best team. "planning for the future" occurs in the offseason.

I dont think anyone believes we are better off without Philmore. He just needs to get his minutes cut in favor of guys that bring differnt skills and more production. We need Philmore to close out games. He a good rebounder, and he can play solid D. He gets fouled alot and hits his FTs. I say play Reynolds and Farr alot more early and keep Philmore fresh for the stretch each game.

Well if your argument is Philmore can rebound, he is averaging 4.9 rebounds per game in 23.4 minutes per game. Farr is averaging 4.4 rebounds in 13.6 mins and Reynolds averaging 2.9 rebounds in 10.8 minutes. Do the math, Philmore is the WORST rebounder out of the 3.

Farr's defense has been so bad lately that he's made it almost impossible to play him plus he's starting to struggle with his 3 pt shot.

Even the crappy teams shoot the 3 well against us.

It just really sucks that Farr started to decline after improving so much. I still think he can back into it, he just needs to get his confidence back. I was really hoping that he would be starting by the end of the year because it stretches the defense so much and gives Semaj room to operate. He can't be as effective with Stain and Phillmore down there clogging it up.
I would love to see a lineup more with JMart at the 4 and just let this team push it. Their transition points have been declining the last couple weeks.

He's the only guy we've got that can get the tip. :-)

Not so....Stain stole the tip tonight. He's smart, just get it before it reaches it's apex and you're golden. Because, he ain't winning a jumping contest with anyone who jumps in the Big East outside of Creighton (or Gtown if big boy wasn't suspended).
