What got me excited yesterday was the play of Mr. Jalen Reynolds, as well as the heart from Matt Stainbrook. Sure, the Staintrain had some turnovers and fouled out, but I can guarantee you he is salivating for a rematch with Gardner in the Big East tournament. No love between those guys. And like Mack said in the pre-game special on Matt, he expects him to be one of the top big men in the country next year once he fully learns the system and gets in even better shape.

As for Jalen, wow!! Reminded me a lot of a freshman Derrick Brown with some of the huge plays in the second half. Not saying his game is similar to Derrick's, just that his freaky athleticism create points out of thin air, even when he's extremely raw. Imagine this guy in 2-3 years.

Boy, if we could just eliminate the turnovers and keep the shooting and rebounding the same, this team would be a force. Let's hope Mack gets it straightened out, because I think these two big men are going to make some noise down the stretch.

I wonder if there's love between Gardner and any opponent. Last game, he and Semaj got into a tie-up and Semaj wasn't too happy with him. I didn't think too much about that incident, as it seemed like it was an isolated incident. This game, he and Reynolds had a little tiff, though it didn't stop play so nothing was highlighted. Also, Philmore seemed pissed off at him at times, and he and the Big Stain didn't really seem to like each other. Gardner really doesn't seem to get along with a lot of guys. I'm going to go with the mantra I heard once:

If you encounter an asshole in the course of a day, he's an asshole. If you encounter assholes all day, you're an asshole.

It does always seem like Gardner is on the receiving end of questionable calls. He knows what he's doing when it comes to getting foul calls. In the tiff you mentioned XUFAN09 it was a pretty harmless tangle, but Gardner threw his hands up to get attention from the refs.

It was a really tightly called game all the way through. The call that Stainbrook fouled out on was garbage.

Jalen's play was one of the few positives from yesterdays game. Loved the energy he brought during that stretch when X cut the lead to 5.

I can't stand Gardner. Flopper.

I thought when Jalen and Stainbrook were out there together was when the team played the best. It provided a nice balance of power and athleticism down low. Jalen has really played well since he returned from the suspension. Hopefully he continues to improve and can become a very valuable asset to this team once March rolls around.

Agreed with both points. I've said it before, I'll say it again. I hate, just hate the Philmore/Stain frontcourt. They're both under the rim kind of guys. Stain is amazing at snatching boards that come his way but won't "rebound out of his area" as they say. I'm surprised Philmore even averages 5 boards/game.

Would love to see more Stain/Reynolds and Stain/Farr - hell even some Jalen/Farr. Somebody's name isn't mentioned here - I think you get the picture.

I loved Philmore's screen. Sure he was still moving a little, but not as fast as Gardner and his wildly flailing arms. Anyone that big who flops should have a foul called on them and they should have to wipe their own fat-boy sweat off the court.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who can't stand Gardner. I'll be rooting for Marquette to suck the rest of the season just so he gets that stupid smirk wiped off his face.

I've been saying this for the longest time. I think Isaiah has reached his peak whereas Jalen and Farr have so much potential. I would like to see Mack put Jalen in the starting lineup over Stenger. Stenger has done a great job bringing energy to start the game but we can't have just 4 guys that can score at the beginning. I believe Jalen can bring that same energy, if not more, at the beginning and we won't be limited to just 4 offensive players. This offense needs spacing to be the most effective, not log jammed down low.

As person who watches Marquette a lot, Gardner is a flopper and he does come across as a dick. He's one of those guys that it's ok if he is on your team but if he's on the other team, he's a-hole.

When Gardner was shooting FTs at 75-71 (after terrible IP call) I yelled "Gardner's fat." Let's say I got more than a few stares on that one..

If you were in the house, you're lucky he didn't get Smart with you.
