The Uniform thread got me thinking about what kind of items used wished were available in the XU bookstore. When I look at the Big East site (store) some of our offerings are pedestrian at best. I also realize the merchandise available now is leaps and bounds better than I had available in 1996. Is there something out there that other teams have that you'd like to see?

I would overpay to get my hands on one of the new hats the baseball team will be wearing this season. They have the X logo on front, and the big east logo on the back. Pretty sweet.
Edit: sorry for the double post... Uploaded the pic from my phone below.

Overall I'd like to see a better/bigger hat selection. The 47 Brand hat I got this year is pretty nice though.

Overall, just a better selection of items in the bookstore. I don't know if it's Xavier's problem, or Nike's problem. We will get a deluge of stock, it sells out quick, the stores will not re-stock, and it is ages before you see anything again.
More vintage stuff. Especially sweaters that aren't hoodies.

Children's apparel. Baby X1 and Baby X2 have zero Xavier gear this season because the extremely limited selection was atrocious. Hard to indoctrinate without even a t-shirt.

I'm not an expert in retail, and I guess I'm ignoring web-based selling opportunities here - except for the fact that the topic is about the bookstore - but I have to believe that part of the problem could be the lack of physical footprint the store in the Gallagher Center has available for clothing sales.
Perhaps it gets better when the bookstore ends up in its new location in University Station. One can hope - and speculate.

I checked out the "store" on the Big East web site, and was actually impressed with the variety of gear they have available. I haven't been to the bookstore in a while, but the web site has nearly 200 different items and seemed to have a great deal of sizes available.
The selection was better than I have seen in the past. It isn't what big schools like Kansas may have, but the selection has definitely gotten better.

Admittedly I last looked a month ago... and I will tell you that is far more than what was available. So my apologies for that part of the post.

I know the market would be small, but I would love more "team issue" soccer stuff. All of my Xavier soccer gear has finally worn out (and was two sponsors ago, all Adidas). My last practice shirt was done for last year. I wish there was a way to order the same warm ups or shorts that the team has.

I thought this conference item was particularly nice:

I've even proposed putting the players jerseys up for auction. There has to be a market for that as well. But I would love a soccer jersey.

I would say MORE sports uniform jerseys, from a club football jersey to cycling, to one like Danas has hanging up for the club fishing jersey. I know it's probably asking too much, but I would kill for an X baseball, hockey, and football jersey.

Guess I'll finally have to upgrade. Got that A-10 hat broken in nicely mowing the lawn last year.

I had to laugh when I saw this too. Guess they tried to sneak that one in there.
So should they discount it because it's old hat (see what I did there?) or should they charge more because it is vintage?
I would like more items with the X with the sword thru it. I think that is a very cool logo.
Xavier Hockey Sweaters!
A-la Music City Muskie's beauty. That sweater is jinxed!
Spoken like a Cleveburgh fan with no NHL team. If you are going to get a hockey sweater, the winged wheel can't be topped.
What ever happened to the sword LS Tees? Mine is over 5 years old and fading fast, I want a new one.

About 2 months ago they had multiple items for infants...a few different onsies, some shirts, socks, etc. But 2 weeks I looked and there was NOTHING. What the hell. Smallest kids thing was for like a 2 year old. Weak.

I think X has had the same Nike Hat collection for 3 years now. They need some of the dry fit options in Nike Hats.
X has done a poor job in getting items into local dept. stores as well. I rarely see any X gear anywhere outside of Koch's and they have a minimal X selection.

Having become an expert at indoctrinating children, you have to buy baby and toddler gear before or at the very beginning of the season. You may also want to try to the bigger bookstore at Gallagher because they have a larger selection, but again you have to get to it early in the season.

I actually talked with a local store about that and I was told that XU is very picky about what they license. The owner stated he has heard from many folks about the lack of variety w/ XU stuff and that he would offer more if allowed to buy more items. This never made sense to me as one would think X would want to get their brand out there and make as much coin as possible.

Laziness and/or stupidity. They need a businessperson running that store.
