Thought it might be time for a new poll. As of today's date the team stands 15-7. There are 9 games left.

I voted 6-3 - these are the 6 games Xavier needs to win:

Home - DePaul and Providence (absolute must wins)
Home - Either Creighton or Villanova
Away - Butler and Seton Hall (must wins)
Away - Either Marquette, Georgetown or St. John's

I think they could be at 10 losses and still make the tourney...would be dicey but we could still make it. Let's hope the "L"s stay in the single-digits though!

Note on the poll - If we went 6-3 the rest of the way, our record would be 21-10 at the end. If we went 5-4, it'd be 20-11.

I don't think they need a great conference tournament with a 20-10 record. Just win a game and they'll be fine. If they finish 19-11, though, they better show up big time in MSG.

Another thing to remember about the Big East Tournament is that you want to stay out of the first round as much as possible. Not only do you have a tightrope game on Wednesday night, you're likely playing either Villanova or Creighton in the quarterfinal round with an inordinate amount of rest between both teams.

If Xavier wins just the quarterfinal game, then you also have to keep in mind it would likely be either Marquette, St. John's, Providence or Georgetown (fellow bubble buddies). One win there would punch the ticket - anything beyond that would enhance NCAA seeding at this point.

Thanks for the catch on the records. I edited the poll options but not the results.

I put 5-4, to get them to 20-11.

I honestly don't think they need a great conference tournament to get them in with that record. I think if they finish 10-8, and get one in in the tournament, they're pretty well in. 10-8 and a loss in the first round puts them squarely on the bubble.

Agreed. On the basic level before examining the details, Xavier's combination of a really good SOS and a decent record would make them a likely inclusion.

Just listening to the commentator on tonight's game and Raftery, I get the impression that Xavier is almost a lock. Both guys broadcasting the game said as much.
