A Florida State junior college recruit has been arrested for allegedly eating marijuana in order to conceal it from police.
Power forward Cinmeon Bowers, who committed to Florida State in September, and two of his teammates at Chipola College in Marianna, Fla., were arrested Thursday night following a traffic stop.
According to the Marianna Police Department, officers smelled marijuana coming from the car after the vehicle was pulled over for a speeding violation.
Bowers, 20, and Chipola teammates Torian Graham, 20, and Jamaar McKay-Taylor, 19, ate the marijuana in an attempt to conceal it from the officers, according to the police statement. They were charged with tampering with evidence and taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
All three players have been suspended indefinitely by Chipola College until the legal process plays out, coach Patrick Blake told ESPN.
Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton told ESPN he will allow the process to play out regarding Bowers.
"I will wait until I get all the complete information," Hamilton told ESPN.
The 6-foot-6 Bowers is widely considered to be one of the top junior college prospects in the country.
Graham has taken visits to Missouri and UNLV, while Kentucky, Cincinnati and Alabama have also expressed interest.

Maybe he should consider Colorado or join McKenzie in Denver?

I think we recruited Graham. Mack seems to have a pretty good sense of when to back off a kid.

Well, I think his hopes of going to Kentucky have gone down the drain. I see him ended at Mizzou or UNLV. Not sure if Cincinnati will continue to recruit him, we really need a three point shooter like him.

Don't forget Memphis or Dayton as possible destinations. I could see him at an SEC school also. A lot of those are willing to take kids with "questionable" character.

Funny. You can eat pot in both states going to the Super Bowl. Who cares.

I don't really see this as a big deal. It was just really dumb. Weed alone is a minor misdemeanor with pay out ticket and no jail time. They just made it worse trying to eat it.
I think there is other stuff from Graham's past, but if this is it? Big deal.

I agree. The visual is funny, though.

I'm sure the idiotic Governor down there will appoint a special prosecutor to check their stools.

It sure makes you question the kids judgement though.

Meh, it wasn't like they found 200 lbs in the trunk. I am sure he isn't the only athlete that has inhaled before.

If you eat it, it changes the buzz to more of a "body" buzz. It lasts a lot longer and is probably a cleaner way to ingest the herb. Of course, it would be best to heat up the stuff in some butter or oil, reduce it down, strain it, dump the remnants into a brownie mix then bake for 45 mins on 350 degrees....but given the circumstances, he could have made worse choices.
This makes me think the kid is a gambler who isn't afraid to take chances. You need a little of that in your players...but hopefully they use their powers for good and not evil.

Driving while under the influence of everything is taking chances with someone else's life and safety. Not sure that's part of what makes a good teammate.

That's a typo, right? I think you meant to type choking, as in choking on all the pot he's eating.

Is there evidence that driving under the influence of pot increases driving related risks? I don't have a huge sample size, but I don't think it's anything like drinking and driving. I would probably put it behind driving while tired.

I had a friend in HS who got pulled over in our suburb after partaking in the herb and the cop asked him, "Do you know how fast you werre drving?" My friend, thinking he was speeding, responded with, "I don't know... 30, 35 ?" The cop told my friend, You were going 15 and the speed limit is 25." The cop told my friend to "pick it up" and let him go. True story.

Intoxication by marijuana doesn't seriously affect reaction time and actually makes drivers more focused on the road. With that increased focus, though, comes terrible peripheral awareness, so it presents its own range of risks.
Driving while tired (which we've all done) is a good comparison, but that doesn't really rate much better than driving under the influence of alcohol.

Aw. Can you imagine if he were one of Mick's? Talk about paranoia and hallucinations!! Some YTG stomps up screaming at you, taking your shirt, and there you are just trying to process a belly full of grass. That would scare the pot out of anyone!

Yes. It hasn't been studied as extensively as alcohol but it is an impairment. Regardless of where it ranks, the kid was careless at best. And I still have seen nothing posted here to refute my original premise that this kid is an idiot!

There are OVIs in Ohio for marijuana similar to alcohol OVIs. A certain level has to be met with the amount of marijuana in the blood or urine. So it depends how much marijuana was in his system for it to have affected his driving as far as the state of Ohio is concerned.

My guess is they were smoking the pot until the law flashed the lights, then ate the evidence.
