VERY interesting read - stemming from a recent incident where scouts blasted the kind of treatment they got at UCLA. Xavier is listed in the best venues part of the article in the group 'mentioned more than once' category along with Syracuse, New Mexico, Arizona State, Creighton, Alabama, Baylor, Boston College, Ohio State.

It seems as if we always have a player on NBA radars (Semaj, Tu, Crawford, D-Brown) so it's certainly nice to see we accommodate them well. Also points out the Calhoun would always make his players and any recruits in attendance that the scouts were there.

So the article starts by saying that UCLA has the most NBA picks, and then proceeds to say how important the relationship between the school and the scout is....then proceeds to name UCLA as the most unaccomodating school for scouts?

I understand the point, but it's not good to provide evidence to completely blow up your article.

That article doesn't say that its a snippet from their media guide.

It's proving that programs tout their NBA player success etc....

I'm with Drudy. If your argument was that you need to go to college to develop your NBA game, you shouldn't use LeBron James as your example.

Maybe the REAL punchline in the article is that it DOESNT MATTER how you treat the scouts. If there is talent, it will be drafted. Treating the scouts like royalty doesnt seem to influence their talent assessment, and treating them like crap doesnt seem to matter either.

So I'm not really sure what the point of teh article was.

I imagine that one of the benefits of being nice with scouts is simple networking. If you treat a scout well, they may be able to grant you a more accurate or complete assessment of your players, which would be particularly beneficial if you have someone who is thinking about leaving early, is a borderline first rounder, or even a borderline draftee at all.
