A play-in game to qualify for the Big East expansion?

Discuss...

By the way, wiithout Jordan Sibert, the Cryers really suck.

ud has had some pretty lucky wins this year. But, hey every team gets lucky throughout the season. As for today, I just haven't followed the A-10 enough to know for sure. I do know that Crews will have them ready to play and that ud is capable of losing any game at any time, example Illinois State. I give the edge to SLU in this game just because I think they have better overall talent. I still think that Archie is taking this ud Volkswagen, spit shining it and trying to win as much as possible in order to take a ride out of town in the Racoon's Lexus at the end of this year. In addition, I do think both teams are auditioning for a BE expansion opportunity. But, does anyone know at this point what the BE's expansion plans may be for the near future?

I love seeing the urinal emptying out early and those red cretins hanging their heads in defeat.

By the way, nice of udump to let a rapist back in school and back on the team.

Every indication is that they will not rush to expand, so UD, SLU, et. al., have to prove themselves for more than a good season.

X, Temple and Butler gone and they still can't win a significant game @ home. Looks like the 'ol .500 in conf.

Hypothetically speaking, where would this mythical Big East qualifier game take place?

And remember he did say qualifier, doesn't mean we have to take either one.

I know well hold it at Cintas Center - that assures a Billikens win, right.

Where all the "play-in" games take place.

And I an just fine with 10 teams and a double round robin. So I hope both are on the outside looking in for a long time.

We may not try to hurt the dumps chances, but I have a feeling we would not help either. The vibe I got from our AD at the season ticket holder social is they have no desire to schedule or associate with the dump for the forseeable future.

Why not just add Fordham for SJU, or GW for the Hoyas to play with?..

Kavs can't seem to "take it to the hole" this year. Archie needs to station a 17 yr. old hs girl under the hoop. I think Kavs posts on the A-10 board as the district baller.

A quick visit to UDPride still reveals idiots who try to spread the false notion that Xavier is having financial difficulties.

Otherwise, the most they can hang onto, as far as not being part of the Big East is concerned, is that Fox's TV ratings aren't doing well presently.

They are some very dumb people:

1. Xavier is fine;
2. This Fox package will be outstanding long-term;
3. They continue to root for a perennial loser; and
4. With this kind of continuing performance, they'll firmly remain on the outside of the BE, desperately looking in.

I truly hope Father Graham, the BoT, and Greg Christopher unanimously decide to box them out, assuming they ever have a shot, which I doubt.

Love it.

DistrictBaller is a VCU fan.

If you played for UD, wouldn't you be too?

EDIT: If it wasn't clear, not serious about Kav being DistrictBaller.

DistrictBaller is a VCU fan.

District runs the VCU forums and is involved in A10talk. Good guy and knows his basketball.

On a somewhat related note, met and spent a few hours chatting and hanging out with Keith Waleskowski tonight. Hate to admit it, but he is an extremely nice and personable guy.

I love the UD board, it's my 2nd form of entertainment. This guy can't really believe this crap can he? Here is a great comment.

The problem is this: If Xavier, Butler, Gonzaga, Wichita State, etc. can do it, there is no reason why we should not.

We have as many (or more) resources as those schools; we have as good or better academic reputation; we have more basketball tradition; we have a better fan base; we have as good or better facilities.

Thus, I can't find any excuses why we should not compete at that level every year. One single NCAA tournament win over the past 23 years is simply unexplainable for a school like UD...

Dayton rarely falls outside the top one quarter of men's Div. I basketball programs, though I can't find any excuse why those other three quarters of the nation's basketball programs can't compete in that top one quarter every year.

I can: They don't have the resources; they don't have a fan base averaging over 11,000 per game every season; they don't play in an arena that has hosted more NCAA tournament games than any other facility in the country; they don't have much of a basketball tradition. There are many reasons why a Gardner-Webb or a Sacred Heart are not in the top quarter...

I'm glad he could pinpoint several factors that mean nothing to very little to recruits. I forgot how delusional UD fans are.

The one factoid that he left out that mitigates all others.....udump is in dayton.

I really think this is what hurts dayton the most. What recruit would want to live in that city for 4 years (or in chip hare's case 6 years)?

UD falls short in the following areas. These are not debatable.

1. They are in Dayton. There is literally nothing in Dayton worth going to. Nothing.
2. They have an off campus arena.
3. They DO NOT have a history of winning anything the last 25 years.
4. They're within 150 miles of 6-7 other programs recruits would rather go to. OSU, Xavier, IU, UK, UL etc.
5. They are in Dayton.

I think that might have been true a while back, but now the NCAA has expanded the number of regular season games allowed and that makes 18 Conference games more attractive than it used to be with fewer regular season games allowed. An example of the effect this change had overall was that in the 10 years prior to the change, only an average of 81 D-1 schools had records of 20 wins or more. In the first season in which multi-team events (MTE) were permitted to count as a single game, the number jumped to 107 D-1 teams with 20 wins or more! We know that getting 20 wins or more has been a key benchmark used by the selection committee for bids to the NCAA Tourney given to non-Champions of their Conferences.

I would still rather only play sixteen conference games. I like the idea of having 13 OOC games.

That's just my own preference. I think a nine team league that plays a true round robin is ideal. I sure as hell don't want more than ten. I actually like the idea of UD being in our conference, but unless two teams leave, I'm not interested. Again, that's just my opinion.

I don't like the idea of Dayton getting in the Big East. "It just don't feel right, Paw."
