I believe this would be a first, correct, if one is chosen?

Drew Lavender was one, but no players coming to Xavier out of high school.

Very nice. What surprised me the most was Ohio having 121 players nominated and Indiana only 5. Does that seem odd?

Certainly an honor, but a ways away from being selected.

Wasn't Sherwin Anderson a McDonald's All American?

When I was a junior one of my teammates was nominated. He was a 6'5 center who averaged 24ppg and 11rpg. He wound up playing NAIA. Not saying it's not an honor and I have no idea what the criteria is, but a nomination doesn't necessarily mean you're a basketball god.

Yes. One of my high school teammates was a McDonald's AA nominee, and he had no D-I offers.

The nomination process starts off with hundreds of kids from all over the country, but finishes with less than 25. Great to see Bluiett, London, and Sumner mentioned, but even a tremendous senior season isn't enough to be selected to play in the McDonald's All-American Game. You also must have a scholarship offer from Duke.

Only in the Twilight Zone does Ohio have 121 nominees to Indiana's 5.
If Bluiett keeps up with his Star Wars scoring he may be a lock.

I believe that Erik Edwards was a McD's AA...and he was also a disappointment.

I don't think he was a Mcd AA. But I think he played in the Dapper Dan Classic. He was a big guy who could shoot a bit, but he was a little bit slow afoot,, to say the least.

Edwards was never an McD AA. But Deleware player of the year.
Sherwin Anderson was recruited by Duke until he hurt his knees.

D'Ontonio Wingfield and Damon Flint were McD AA but they did not pan out for UC.

Are you sure about that? Sherwin did not seem to fit the Duke mold at all. Duke generally went after more of an affluent kid. I understood that Sherwin showed up at Xavier basically with the shirt on his back.

Hmm, I just learned about another former Xavier player.

I remember that I was really pumped about getting Edwards but questioning why X also signed "that Brian Grant guy from Georgetown."

I wouldn't go as far as to say Flint didn't pan out for UC. Sure he didn't live up to the hype coming out of high school, but he is in their athletic hall of fame.
