With all the hype surrounding KC and Seattle and breaking the record for loudest stadium at 135 decibels I was wondering what the record for College Basketball Arenas would be. Well from my research I have gathered that Kansas has the record at 125 decibels. Do you think it would be possible for the fans at Cintas to top that record? Might be hard with all the blue hairs and the fact we only have 10,250 compared to 16k. However, maybe it's something they could try to do at the next big home game against Marquette or GTown. I guess we can always have that exciting fireworks show again! I thought it was Labor Day on the river after that insane display of sparklers. Even better maybe have a 10 min race of the roto rooter vans, how awesome was that!

Would have to be a huge game and with the students. Loudest I ever heard the Cintas was when the GWU game when refs finally called it for us after a 20 minute delay. Father B told me he heard it in Bellarmine Chapel! UMASS game at the Garden's was the loudest the Garden's got IMO.

Is there a list you can link that ranks the venue's loudness? I live in the Syracuse area, and I have experienced some incredible loudness in the Dome. They pack around 32K in there at least once a season for a good game, and it gets to the point where you can't even hear your own voice.
If Cintas made it known that we wanted to set a record, and EVERYONE was on board (including the miserable people that don't like standing or cheering), then maybe we could do it.

Having been to MD/Duke games at Cole Field house during the peak of their rivalry and a handful of UD, UC, or other big games at Cintas, there is absolutely no way that we could ever break the record for loudest stadium. 10k is far too few people, student section is WAY too small, Cintas isn't built to maximize the sound and XU fans in general just don't get loud enough.
I love X basketball and the Cintas Center, but all-time crowd noise is a total pipe dream, no matter how big the game is.

That Roto Rooter thing could be cool. It could be our Mr. Reds Race. Have Datagnan, Blue Blob, and ???? race. You know how Reds fans get all excited about the Mr. Red Race.
Some more things need to happen to that Roto Rooter deal, namely get rid of the easy listening music, and lay in a more exicting music track, and make it meaningful, say have the road race be clearly from the Gardens to Cintas Center, or around campus the long way, say leaving Gallagher, going down LEdgewood to show the buildings, then around down the academic mall, past OConnor and Schmidt, then around Xavier Square up to the Cintas Center main door. They could even stop by Listerman's or Dana Gardens.
Nice idea, just not well executed.
About the flamethrowers, they are attention getters, but not quite what I had in mind when I heard fireworks, then again just what is possible indoors, in an arena, where you don't have the luxury of set up or tear down time. Recall they had to wheel the mortars in AFTER the St Johns intros, then thhy had to get the stuff off the court, after the Xavier intros and before the refs called the teams to the floor. And that was not even expecting them to shake loose some of the confetti, or was that planned?
As far as loudness, I don't think the arena is designed to amplify the sound, which would be needed. And just how loud can people be without the aid of articficial noise makers.

No. I was at the KU game where it was recorded at 127.3. It was when Thomas Robinson blocked a Mizzou shot to send the game into OT after KU came back from 19 down with about 17 minutes to play. Impossibly, insanely, shockingly loud.
I love Cintas but it cannot touch the noise level that Allen Fieldhouse can.

You guys are all right there is no way we can break it. Thought maybe it could be fun to at least try. I think Xavier does a great job with entertaining us when the game isn't going on. Coaster you are correct the roto rooter could be much better but you couldn't help to laugh when you saw that the first time. My buddy and I simultaneously texted each other "lame" when it was over. As far as the fireworks, my dad overhyped it for me. He is 69 so things like that get him pretty excited. I was just expecting a much better display of pyrotechnics.

I'd never say never, but the occasion has to be off-the-cuff (think Creighton or Dayton back in 2003). If it's premeditated and noise just for the sake of noise, then it's a useless record. Cintas is known for having nice sightlines and having the fans on top of the crowd more than it is for being a noisy arena.

For Xavier basketball? No chance. For Quick Change? Maybe.

For Quick Change? Only if one of their outfits is a birthday suit. That will bring the house down.
