I took some first timers to the game with me today. On the way out they bought tickets to 3 other games. Today was an unbelievable environment. I can't remember a game where students were gone that sounded quite the way it did today.
If you haven’t made it to a game in a while – it might be time to take a trip down to Cintas. St. John’s had to leave saying “WOW!!!”.

Byron and Joe were pleased with the crowd as well. You could hear the fans over the radio. Glad to hear the students turned out for our first Big East game!

Better, yes. Over break? Not sure. Maybe vs creighton on nye a few years back. By a few I mean like six or more...I'm old as shit.

After some disappointment at the early crowds this season I must say that I have been quite pleased with both Wake Forest and St. Johns.
Almost forgot what big lines for concessions looked like there for awhile. Had some tumbleweeds blowin through the upper deck against Evansville.
Cintas is back though, and I couldn't be happier. We need to pack every Big East game and run roughshod through this POS league.

It's certainly not an excuse, but you have to wonder if the opponent (BG/Evansville vs. St. John's/Wake) is a big factor. As someone mentioned in the game thread, I hope X continues to schedule a tough OOC.

I am sure that the big names are bigger draws. And scheduling Evansville over break isn't going to cut it. I remember when Evansville used to be the biggest game on the schedule. They were better then though, and those were some tough games. Jim Crews was almost as hate-able and Bob Huggins for awhile. Really didn't like that guy.

I thought the crowd was outstanding today and provided an excellent environment for our first home conference game in the Big East.

Did I mention that noon games on non-holiday weekdays are dumb?

I think you have a point Kahns. I was surprised at the strong showing when many people are working. People sometimes have to do year end closing stuff as well so taking off isn't always an option. Some days in some occupations you have to be there whether you have time off to spend or not.

I gotta hand it to Xavier (or Leerfield Sports) for the way they marketed this game. Social media and the website was all about this game in the week leading up to it. The shirts giveaway was a great touch too. I think that had a lot to do with how important the fans perceived this game to be.

It is my peak period at work and although I could have taken off it would have not "looked good" for me to do that so I stayed and had game cast going on one of my monitors. I did send my 17 year old along with one of his buddies to represent our tickets.

Patience people. Looked great from home on TV. Cintas not a nice place for visiting teams. Xavier basketball is loved and getting stronger.

So instead of Wow, St Johns might have been thinking. "start the bus and get us the heck out here".

Great crowd and nice job playing defense while the shots weren't falling. We could have been behind by 15 but the team kept playing defense.

What's with the four empty suites today? Four suites with no guests.

I've always wanted a video of that game, however I don't think it was on TV. Went to the game and it was one of the best I've attended at the Cintas Center. Wasn't that a David West bobble head night?

The David West bobblehead on my desk just nodded in the affirmative.

The NYE Creighton game might be IMO, the best game at the Cintas Center. I still talk about that game.

Probably the best non-SucKS game at Cintas....that Xavier won.
The 2004 St. Joes game, however, that X lost was a classic as well.

I'll second that...brought a friend and he about lost his mind during that game.
