Now that Xavier has completed the non-conference schedule at a solid but not spectacular 10-3, what record will they need in the Big East regular conference season to secure a NCAA at-large bid?

I'm thinking 10/11 wins.

10 plus a conference tournament win.

12-6 is realistic that would make us 22-9 in the number 3 conf. Must win one in NYC 23-10 gets us the dreaded 9 seed.

I love the 9 seed. Let's beat an 8 and then get it on against a 1.

Of course, I prefer a 4 or a 5 or a 6.

Wasn't there a thread about Non-Conference predictions? Can't seem to find it. Thought I had 10-3 but wanted to check.

I had one about total record, but too early to go back searching for it.

With our strength of schedule 10-8 would be the minimum. No reason every Big East team with over 20 wins doesn't get in the tournament.

I think a couple of them had a poor non-conference SOS, so they'd probably need to do a little more.

I'll have tournament capsules up on the blog for all the teams soon. Traveling today though after getting to see that win yesterday in person.

According to RPI forecast a 12-6 conf record gives us an RPI of around 30. Safely in, regardless of the conference tourney.

The conference tourney is a different animal this year. There will be huge wins to be had.

Yeah I didn't even read the question and thought it was going to be 'how many wins will it take to win the Big East this season' lol.

I'm getting tired of "woulda-shoulda-coulda" critics trashing the alleged inadequacies of the (New) Big East. It is what it is. The (Former) Big East is history, xavier didn't take it appart, nor can they reconstruct it. Same analysis for that "other school" in Clifton. Both schools need to focus on the possible, not what might have been under some hypothetical scenario. Meanwhile Reynolds is suspended, good call by Coach Mack. Apparently the number on his jersey (1) wasn't remotely similar to his rank within other freshmen, as to grade point average....lol. Hard transition to college, better to make adjustments now, somebody please activate Sister Rose Fleming's 24/7/365 pager.
