St. John's got up 2 AND had the ball. I would have thought that such a precious possession would have called for even a timeout by Lavin, instead of what appeared to be hazardous NY street ball.
'cuse came down the floor and tied it and then took the lead and then it was essentially over. Too bad. Good effort that didn't come through.

I love looking at the AAC's resumes.
UC's best win? Louisville or Pitt, neither team has a good win.
UConn's best win? IU, bubble team.
Memphis? Oklahoma St. with a sick Marcus Smart. OK St. also had beaten them earlier in the season by 20 when Smart was healthy. Throw in Gonzaga, but Gonzaga but they haven't beat anyone either.
Louisville? Souther Miss or Memphis?
Southern Methodist? UC
I do think UC is a good team but the rest of the conference looks pretty average to me
It's a conference that has inflated its rankings simply because they didn't lose much in OOC portion of the schedule but didn't actually beat anyone.

In no way do I think XU, SJU, and Providence should be ranked ahead of the AAC teams, I just don't think the AAC's resume is great. And Florida was without Kasey Hill and Chris Walker for that game. So, Seton Hall comes down the floor with the ball and the score tied.
Up goes a "3" attempt with 13 seconds left in regulation. No drive to attract a foul at home with time close to expiring. A long ball. A long ball with two much time left on the clock in the event of a miss, which was the event.
Ouch.

As for Seton Hall.......Xavier has to win that game on the road. Can't lose to them again. They should be ready to play considering Seton Hall might be the only home loss of the season up to that point.
More importantly, a Seton Hall win and Depaul win would give Xavier 19 wins. that leaves 5 games to win 1 or 2 games and safely be in the tournament.

I was at the game and that is one pumped up team and fan base. The game got a little chippy at times, a double technical had to be called at one point. I think that's due to a mix of these teams having history and DSR's need to run his mouth.
The big difference for them is Rysheed Jordan. When he's on they're hard to stop. He had 24 tonight. Shooting 8-11 and 3-6 from distance. Him vs Semaj should be fun to watch.

If Xavier's perimeter defense plays like they did Saturday, I'd have to concur with Gladden as to Georgetown. St. John's might be a better matchup, but Xavier caught them at the right time in December. They're going to have to win a game at MSG sooner or later; it would be better to get a true road win there instead of merely a single game in the Big East Tournament (and even that's no guarantee).

I don't think he's pandering to the Committee (I'm assuming that's what you meant). I think he's pandering to the fans and the sportswriters in preparation for getting left out. Honestly, I don't know what he thinks is good about the resume. He went 10-3 in the non-conference schedule. Okay, the SOS for that was 128, and the only top 150 team he beat at home was #67 San Francisco at home.
...I was about to go on, but I decided to just not bother. I'd rather celebrate the Xavier win that worry about the shit resume that Lavin put out. With that non-conference schedule alone, he dug his grave when he couldn't beat the two teams that were even worthwhile: Wisconsin on a neutral court and Syracuse at home.

And their coach might be the biggest D-Bag in college basketball. Is he going to be fired or will they give him another year or so in hopes that talented players will overcome his awful coaching? If it weren't for D.Wade's academics being a nightmare and him falling into Crean's lap, this guy probably would have been bounced at Marquette. And now the only thing keeping him at IU is that he's able to take advantage of the IU name (and boosters) to add talent. Unfortunately he can't coach them.
As for Georgetown (saw them mentioned earlier in the thread), remember when people in the DSR camp basically forced him out of his commitment to Xavier because they wanted him to go to a bigger program? How's that working out? Oh, and to some extent, that helped X land Semaj. So I think we did just fine!

Good job, good effort. 1,057 in attendance at Carneseca too.
That #1 seed sure meant a lot.
