Back In the day the UC game was often the glue that bonded the team together for the rest of the campaign. Will that be the case?

I could use another "run."

I'd expect a brief bump in the road (post-Shootout and pre-Christmas game rolled into one) at Bama. Once the team comes back from Christmas break, I would expect the swagger to return that a Shootout win provides.
It must have been fun for the guys to return to campus for final exam quiet hours.

I watched the highlight video from GoXavier.com this morning.
At the very end, there stood Chris Mack and Justin Martin having a one-on-one conversation. Martin all smiles. Mack probably coaching him up by letting him know that he was The Player in a players game.
Chris Mack is a solid coach, IMO.
This team cares and they care for each other.
They may have shot lights out from behind the arc last night, but they had to run an effective offense to get the open looks they got. They may have had 20 turnovers last night, but they overcame them as well.
Overall, the point is that they played all 40 minutes with mostly focus and intensity. They even performed admirably from the charity stripe. THEY PROVED TO THEMSELVES THEY COULD GET THE JOB DONE IN ONE OF THE BIGGEST RIVALRY GAMES IN THE NATION. Now they know they can win.
And they know they can win even with Semaj sitting on the bench for much of the game, notwithstanding his beautiful 3's that virtually sealed the victory by gutting UC's comeback attempt in the second half.
UC game or no UC game, the vision materialized for this team last night.

I don't know. I see a switch that has been turned on.
Alabama is desperate, as they are sitting at 5-4, but another fast start there certainly would help.

Bama game will tell me what I need to know. If they go in there and play like they have against Tenn, USC, BG, evan then the answer is no to your question. So this is actually the biggest game of the season so far. Beat Bama and this team will be rolling. Lose to bama and who knows

I also recall a few times when beating UC was the high point of the season and things mostly got worse afterwards ('98 and '00 teams in particular). Hopefully we do not experience that this year!

I hope this is the game they learned they can win even without their best player. That confidence should be huge.

My thoughts exactly.

I don't think the shootout is a barometer one way or the other. X will win every time they shoot like they did last night from the 3 point line. Unfortunately I don't think that's going to happen very often.
