Anybody see anything that reflected bad on either university? I saw J. Mart hit a three and then say something to the UC fans on the floor. Also it looked like some X fan got kicked out of the game over in section 104 but not sure what happened.

There were some fans across the aisle from me that almost came to blows, but that was more a result of not being able to hold their liquor than anything. My father in law and I actually had a nice running conversation with the UC fans behind me. Most of the folks in my section were friendly even though the smack talk was flowing freely.

Regarding the fans (2 of them) that got kicked out of 104, there really wasn't an incident that happened. My seats were about 2 rows behind theirs. They were being loud the entire game, but not really taunting the UC student section. When one guy was coming back from getting a beer, a UC student poured beer on him. He went back to his seats, and then security came to talk to them, asked him a few questions, and he pointed out the guy that poured beer on him. Then, for whatever reason, the security guards had a discussion and escorted him and his friend out. The UC fan who dumped the beer on him got to stay. Puzzling to say the least.

Nothing to report from 126. Some
UC fans got into out section somehow but they were not an issue.

I was watching on tv and it looked like a few thousand UC fans got kicked out with about 5 minutes left. Or maybe they just realized whose city it really was. :D

There was a group of guys from X who ran on to the court and beat down some guys from uc. it went on for the whole game. It only stopped because the clock ran out.

with about four mins to go, it looked like most of the UC fans had been kicked out. No one was left. What happened??

I had a great game in 123 until the few uc people left started telling me to step out side so he could beat my ass then another altercation with another uc fan getting out of his car in the parking garage line threatening another person in his car but beside that it was just a calm beat down

How far are we going to take this to make it look not like a rivalry? If a guy can't talk some trash to a rival's fanbase sitting close to the court after a big shot, then this is just another game. If we can't get rid of this extreme G-rating for this crap then everyone's just going to see this as another game, not an important rivalry. Puke.

watching from home the one thing that really stood out was Farr, after hitting that 3 early in the first half. it was followed by an immediate UC timeout and one of the refs dressed him down for something, must have been jawing after the shot. After the timeout he was all smiles and apologized to 2 of the stripes

All was calm in Section 114 during the game. Saw the two guys get booted from Section 104, but wasn't sure what happened.
My biggest issue was all of the whining and bitching their fans were doing waiting in line for the pisser. Good Lord, they are some sorry ass bitches.

After he made the three, he turned and said something to the UC bench. No idea what he said, but I think the ref was right to talk to him. They wanted to make sure things didn't get out of control.

a UC student poured beer on him.
Beer prices being what that are, should have thrown him out for that. An X fan would never waste good beer.

Quick glance at UC board: Xavier fans were rude and profane and looking to start fights all over the place. So shame on us.

This is the story from both sides after nearly every sporting event ever played. And there's almost always some sliver of truth of it. Some people just can't handle their drink. Some people are always looking for a fight. And some people are both.
But the notion that XU fans across the board (or even on average) are bad is quite laughable. We are one of the tamest crews I've seen. Loud yes (at times). But tame nevertheless.

Those going to a sporting event looking for trouble will find it. I've been to several shootouts at 5/3rd and never felt the animosity of one trip to UD Arena.
I mean there wasn't even one UC sucks chant. We were on our best behavior. Of course that could be because we were spending too much time high fiving each other yet another made three.

And when your team is losing badly you are going to be looking everywhere but the floor, bitterly telling yourself that every time opposing team fans cheer they are deliberately trying to rub it in.

You don't call turning to the UC side of the arena and chanting "Why so quiet" at the top of our lungs rubbing it in their faces? And it came through loud and clear on TV to. The fans who were at the game also brought their A game with them.

Bingo. I didn't attend this year (for a variety of reasons) but I remember last year seeing several incidences of both Xavier fans and UC fans acting like d-bags. The common trend amongst offenders for the most part was age of under 23 and BAC over 0.23. Most of the jawing I saw happened either before the game, during half time, or after the game, all in the concourse. The UC fans around us during the game were fine for the most part.

Cat fan here. First of all congrats on the ass whooping, the game sucked! Haha. I thought the crowd was great. I am a die hard fan but acting like a douche for a sporting event drives me nuts. The couple that went with me and mine were X fans, and we had a great time. People looked at us like we were crazy for being friends and sitting together, but at the end of the day it is a game, and a great one for our city. I had no problems with anyone, anywhere, except for our student athletes getting a beat down. Again, congrats and best of luck the rest of this year. See you next year....somewhere.....

Well done B01.
Best of luck to you guys moving forward as well. It's much better for the Queen City to have both programs playing well.

This comment right here is why I love you guys and hang around the board despite being a UC fan. Despite all the trash talking, most of you are able to look at this game objectively and realize that UC is all right and the game is good for the city if both teams are playing well. Most UC fans just can't give credit where credit is due to you guys. We can whine about all the shots you guys hit all we want but reality is, we can take away all 11 of your 3's and the game still isn't that close. I fully X to keep winning this game 3 out of every 4 years while Cronin is here for 2 simple reasons, you guys come into the game battle tested while UC plays scrubs, and UC is just a team full of athletes while Xavier is a team full of basketball players.

Outside of a few other people's observations that moving the game to an earlier date has changed the flavor of the game, I think Huggins moving on (albeit forcably) and the resultnat lack of national prominence has also changed this game. It was a much better series when both teams had something on the line and NCAA Tournament success in the next month. Cronin brings a negative feeling to the game that, although he wasn't my favorite guy, Huggins never did (IMHO). Huggins brought more of a "we're better than X" feeling which brought out the "Just win baby" feeling. Cronin brings more of a "X is little and not worthy and annoying" and it just doesn't make sense given the facts. I think this brings out more of a "KICK THEIR A$$" feeling and it changes things from an awesome event to more of an opportunity to whoop ass.

My point is when your team is losing you count every slight and magnify it because you'd rather talk about that than the game. I've been to enough of these games to know that both sides do plenty of taunting and most bad behavior comes from people that will misbehave no matter which team they root for. We call them douches when they root for UC and spirited when we sit next to them at Bengals games.

I don't see what moving the game to a later date in the thick of conference play will accomplish. If anything, winning an out of conference game would seem less important once you're in the thick of the conference. This past week was a good week to have it. The students are still around, and it's the first weekend that college basketball has the spotlight to itself. Lots of OOC rivalries are typically played this week.
Since Xavier joined the Atlantic Ten, 94-95, 98-99, 03-04, 04-05 and 05-06 are the only times the game was played after conference play got going. In all other cases, it was played in mid-December (or in one case, Jan 6th before conference play got started). It's not as if those years were the only times the game was intense.

Good luck to the Bearcats the rest of the way too. Hopefully we can mutually help each others' RPI!

I don't either, in fact I remember coaches from both programs wanting to get the game moved out of January, and the middle of conference schedule.
Both programs and coaches will always complain about something related to the shootout, but for both programs, it seems to make the most sense to move it back on campuses, and keep it in the middle of December.

If we were in the A10 I'd be okay with that, but in a better conference now I'm afraid that a mid January game would be too much distraction..

The better sign in the crowd was "Sean Kilpatrick listens to 98 Degrees" -- the X students brought their A-game with the signs.

they should have had 2 more signs next to that one: "Who's Sean Kilpatrick?" and "Who's Nick Lacey?"
