is the depth hurting the team? it's good to have depth but i wonder if the constant subbing in and out is causing more problems than helping. nobody can seem to get into a flow. thoughts??

I don't think that is the problem. We aren't subbing in and out 5 guys at a time like Dayton used to do with Gregory. Guys have the opportunity to stay in the game for pretty extended periods of time if they are playing well and aren't getting into foul trouble.

I think that the bigger issue seems to be that our offensive philosophy relies on individual talent and the ability to create your own shot, and quite a few of our players don't do that particularly well. Martin, Dee Davis, Philmore, probably being among the worst.

I too don't think depth is the problem.

Stainbrook and Philmore need to take the open shots from 15 feet and in. They are good enough to make those shots but tend to pass them up.
Stainbrook may have lost a bunch of weight but it looks as though his legs are tired and need some rest.
Xavier needs to have the courage to take open threes.

I think that depth is not an issue. However, the correct players in the rotation is still out for debate. Once Mack figures out who should be in which rotation, then things could be better. We've seen that already from Dee Davis who now comes off the bench.

Completely agree. I would add that the combination of Randolph and Christon is easier to defend now that defenses realize that neither wants to shoot from beyond 15 feet. Add Martin's inconsistent (at best) distance shooting into the mix, and we have a starting lineup that's really susceptible to pack-line defense.

I'd like to see each of those tandems- Randolph/Christon and Phillmore/Stainbrook- split up so that the majority of the time, only one from each group is in the game together. Then pair them up with more athleticism and shooting, aka Farr, Myles Davis, and Reynolds.

You kind of miss the point. Our best offensive player is forced to get his own shot because 3 starters can neither get their own shot or create one for others.

We have depth? I must be on the wrong channel or something on nights we play.

Myles needs to play more honestly.

I'd love to see Jaylen get some action as well but dude is just way too excited.

I think you would have a better point if previous Chris Mack teams with multiple players who could create their own shot didn't also struggle at times on offense. If the offense relies on all 5 players being able to create their own shot and/or create shots for others then that is a pretty tall order. I would argue that an offensive scheme should be able to withstand a few players with limited offensive skill sets. If it can't then maybe you need to alter your offensive philosophy until you have the 'dream team' required to run your preferred offense. Schools do more with far less talent than we have right now.

I guess we'll find out next year.
