I guess we may as well start a thread on every Big East team. Here's DePukes.
They're playing on FS1 right now against Arizona State. There are plenty, plenty, errrr PLENTY of great seats available. In fact, I cannot decipher a designated student section. I think I saw cheerleaders., maybe.
I think that the Horizon holds about 16,000 people, and I think there are about 15,324 opportunities for walk-ins.
For a pretty good intersectional game.....on a Friday night......in Chicago....
Wow.

Final Az State wins by 22 in Chicago. No wonder no one showed up.

They looked awful. The crowd was worse. We better destroy them.

DePaul just beat St. John's by 2. First back to back wins in the Big East since 2008. St. John's really struggling.

As I said in the Butler thread, they came back from being down 10 in the last 90 seconds to tie Butler, forcing OT. Then, in OT DePaul squandered a 4 point lead in the final 20 seconds to force a second OT. By that time the Xavier game was 1:24 from the first half being over, so I turned it off and went to bed. My intention was to watch only the first half of the X vs. Marquette game. Instead, I got an hour of bonus time from two pretty bad teams.

Yeah luckily I get Fox Sports 2 or I would have been in the same boat.

DePaul actually has SOME talent. Probably the most they have had in the last five years (not saying a lot). Garrett is a solid point guard, and a tough matchup if he's shooting well from deep. Teams generally sag when guarding him, inviting the three. If Davis and Semaj can stop Dunham, I'm not particularly worried about Garrett.
Tommy Hamilton is a big that can shoot. He's still a bit sloppy with the ball and not quite in game shape.
Young is a volume shooter, but plays well with Melvin. At this point of the season, I'd take Martin over Young. Semaj might also draw him in coverage.
My biggest concern is Melvin. He's a poor version of McDermott. I bet Philmore defends him.
I fully expect X to win on Monday, but it might be a bit tougher than expected..

Yea I agree, they have been better than advertised. I sure hope we can beat them twice.

I'd be more worried about players like Garrett; he's only a freshman and has quite a bit of upside.
Brandon Young and Cleveland Melvin are both seniors; they would be nice role players on most Big East teams. Unfortunately for DePaul, they don't seem to be the alpha dogs to take them to another level.
But give them credit tonight; it's the first time in 6 years that they've won back-to-back games. All 5 of their league games have been awfully close; they were due to win a couple of them.

You're right, long term. But at this moment, Melvin (and probably Young) will hurt you more. And Melvin would be a legitimate starter on most teams. He'd start at X over IP.

The road will be tougher than we thought. Right now 2 of our 3 wins are against Winless teams in the BE (St. Johns, Butler), Providence, Seton Hall, and Depaul are probably all better than anticipated.
the road to 12-6.
Xavier's three wins in the Big East are a combined 2-11.
Odd to say Xavier's best performance in-conference was in a losing effort.

Seton Hall still sucks. DePaul is not very good either. Those are teams we should sweep.

Just kicked leading scorer Cleveland Melvin off of the team. The last time he played was when he dropped 25 against X.

It seriously looks like there are about 1000 fans for this game against Seton Hall.

They all stayed home to watch Steven Bardo call the game

Well DePaul just beat Seton Hall so we can't lose there.
