I guess the logical thing to do at this point would be to expel him anyways though right? Granted, public and private schools operate on completely different levels, but it's interesting to see how 2 schools handled very similiar situations completely differently.

There may be one difference- with Dez, the girl filed charges with the university. I'm not sure the girl in the Winston case filed anything, cooperated with or demanded any action from FSU.

FSU is likely not coming off a recent sexual assault case that needed to be investigated by the Feds either.

One of the stories mentioned on ESPN (who knows if any of it is true) was that when she went to file charges, she was encouraged not to...whatever the heck that means.

Did anyone watch the press conference??

the prosecutor sure seemed to be enjoying himself. He was cracking jokes and everything. I don't know if there is anything wrong with that or not. I think there might be, but I'm not sure. It certainly wasn't the decorum that I was expecting.

If that's true, FSU will be facing the same scrutiny from the Feds that X did. Encouraging alleged victims not to file charges was what got X in trouble.

I believe it was the Tallahassee police, not FSU, that told her that. I don't believe there was any record of her even being an FSU student. Maybe she was, but I didn't see anything that officially said so.

From what I can tell, FSU simply let the police deal with it.

Without rehashing the Dez circumstances (something with which I have zero interest), the alleged incident did not happen on FSU's campus. Huge distinction there. Although a report was made to campus police it was immediately referred out to Tallahassee PD for jurisdictional reasons. It was a Tallahassee police officer who allegedly tried to dissuade her from filing a complaint.

Good point, LA.
