Thanks for that. He was one of my favorites with his size and range. I think he won me over when he got busted in the chops and was a bloody mess, but got back in the game before it ended. That said volumes.

He's having a nice career over there. Would love to see him take a shot at the NBA.

I don't know how much he's making over there... However, from what I understand these types of players usually stay in Europe because they can make more there than on the end of the bench in the NBA.

I'm sure he's making a very nice living other there. A couple years ago, I thought I read that Sato had signed a 4 year deal worth 12 million.

I believe that about Sato. He's regarded as one of the top defenders in Europe, I think. I was talking with a Russian basketball journalist today, he said that Americans at average Russian clubs earn $500-700k a season, so I'd guess Doellman is making close to a million a year for Valencia, if not more.

This. It's been that way for a while now. Hawk stayed in Greece for precisely that reason. Also, the Euro squads pay for room, board and transport (car) in addition to salary. The downside -- especially if playing in a smaller league -- is the risk of not getting paid. Over the years a number of clubs have fallen on hard times and just stopped making payroll.
