"an astounding 70% of the tickets to the Big East Tournament have been sold already". Giggity.
Keep dreaming about getting your tournament in MSG ACC and Big 10. Ain't happening.

I hope that means sold to the eventual ticket user. It could include required allotments taken by each school, with each school then having to sell through their allotments. I don't know for sure; just am wondering about that.
Either way, even if each school's allotment is 750, then we're talking about an aggregate allotment of 7,500. That isn't even 50% capacity for MSG, so 70% is good news. 70% is good news in general anyway at this point, because that's MSG's vantage point for its P/L (I presume). It must be nice to be 4 months away from the event and be that far along.
As XUOHTX noted, it's all about the $$$$$$$'s with this deal, and it is yet another strong pillar created for the Big East. Kudos to Val.
I wonder if any of those developing corporate sponsorships might involve BE Tournament tickets at some point. Hmm.
Otherwise, assuming this is strictly league-level related, or national media-centric by school, I presume Learfield Sports just got happier as well.

"A substantial reason that this deal was able to happen was because Val Ackerman was named the commissioner of the Big East just four months ago. She has been vital in negotiating this deal; she stated, “This is not just a basketball deal. They share our determination to promote and maximize the commercial opportunities with all of our sports.” Soon after she landed the job as commissioner, she was contacted by many agencies attempting to gain rights to sponsorship. Ackerman turned them all down though because she saw the upside in integrating sponsorship and televising all under one roof."
Did Val Ackerman's mother pen this article?
A well-attended BE tourney in NYC is important. Yet, nothing is more paramount that success in the NCAA tourney long term. GTown, Nova, Xavier, Marq, and Butler need to continue success in the NCAA tourney, while the remainder need to make visual tourney runs.
Winning will draw eyes to our Tourney, with a viewers concerted effort in finding our Fox channel on TV - vs stumbling over some substandard tourney on ESPN, ABC or CBS.
