A great effort by the women’s team, that has already taken some big steps forward in a short time. They dominated throughout, leading 36-18 at halftime and opening up a 50-20 lead early in the second half. They even out-rebounded Pine Bluff, who did have some big bodies inside. There were a couple possessions in the second half in which they had multiple offensive rebounds, including one where Maddison Blackwell had two, putting back the second. Lots of the “hustle stats” came out in their favor- 19 offensive rebounds, 10 steals, and just nine fouls committed. Even though they aren’t the greatest shooting team, they are still sticking with the threes (9-for-33, 27%), which I’ll take as a sign they are still confident enough to keep taking them. We even got to see the entire bench as Gladney, Neal and Ohlinger made their first appearances. This team has changed my outlook on them 180 degrees in the past week. I’m sure there will be plenty of bumps ahead, but I’m pretty excited to see what they can do now.

And a great event afterwards, as well. It's always neat to find out what great people all the players and coaches are.

Good to see the women experiencing success after the recent turmoil.

Really enjoyed watching the game. thanks to XU for the video link and of course getting to hear Mike Schmaltz doing play by play. We really are lucky to have such a quality announcer, so surprised someone else hasn't snapped him up.

Not a huge challenge for XU WBB, but it was a very worthwhile tuneup. we got a good look at the whole roster. I do like Shaefer's work though would like to see her shoot more, and Madison Blackwell did quite well off the bench. They are going to be our "bigs" along with Briana Glover who also did quite well.
Wanninger has really picked up her game, and is carving out a niche as a real go to shooter. Jenna had a bit of an off day, but am not worried about her one bit!
I think overall we're going to be pleased with how this group does, their effort is what will carry them through the season,, and Shatyra is the perfect player to demonstrate that. Watching her at 5'3", able to play against an entire floor that towers over her, is just amazing. she is a true gem!
