As of yesterday there were 400 tickets left for the Tennessee game. Xavier Nation must sell this one out. Bring a neighbor, take a friend ... The team will likely be without a couple players due to injuries, and the crowd must be packed, rocking, and rolling ...

No not yet, maybe after I finish my 9:30 conference call.
It's noon somewhere, right?

Long night ahead. Might be difficult to get some casual fans to come...tried to get a friend to join but the 9p tip time and going up against a pretty stellar double header on ESPN swayed him to stay home.

I will be there. Hopefully yawning because X is up 11 with 30 seconds left and not just because I am up past my bedtime.

You need new friends my friend. Take away his Man-card and give that rat bastard some Gyne-Lotrimin for his vaginal pain. It is good he is checking out though, it would be a wasted seat. We don't need any pansies in the stands.

I think I'm going to be able to swing this game after all -- been a while since I actually had to buy tickets to an X game. Does anyone know if you can avoid a service fee by going to Cintas? If so, I'll save the $10 and drive up to campus on my lunch hour.

I'd give a call to their ticket office and see.

Nah, need 2 (wife is coming along as well). Thanks for the offer, though.

If X fans won't buy them, I'm sure that Volunteer fans (who travel well) will gobble them up.

FYI -- buying at Cintas *does* allow you to avoid the service fees.

There were far more than 400 unsold seats to that game.

I think a lot of no shows in the premium seats. must have been too late for the oldsters.

Official attendance tonight was listed at 9,878 (that's 372 unsold tickets for those counting) but there were a TON of no-shows. I mean whole rows of empty seats in the upper bowl.

Yeah I was pretty disappointed with the amount of empty seats. I do agree that I'm not much of a fan of the 9:00 time slot. It's 12:20 and I'm still not home yet. Work tomorrow will suck. Luckily I'm not too far removed from college and can still kind of sort of handle nights like this. I'd put attendance through the turnstiles somewhere between 7,500-8,000 from my view in the cheap seats.

That weekday night 9PM game, which hurt attendance, is the price paid for the television package. It will all work out just fine.

They official attendance figures are a complete and bold faced lie. But down in the lower bowl, I am sure it looked good on TV.
We have a crisis in attendance in one respect. We have never had this many unsold and empty seats, and it is far more than they are claiming. It started last year. They tried a sale and they put the seats on sale at 50% off. For those of you who want to attend, I would plan on a sale on seats half off coming in the next month. Last year you could buy Temple half off. That was a great deal. This year if they do it you will be able to buy Georgetown, Nova, Marquette, Creighton and Butler half off. Pick your poison, it will all be good and a great deal.
People can claim that they were no shows, but that isn't what is actually happening. Whole rows in several sections are vacant. Those seats were never sold. It doesn't matter what the PR guys are telling you, those seats were never sold. I am talking thousands of seats, not 400 seats.
To play some cheer on the optimistic side, one of the best parts of going to the game these days is the Student Section. They have grown over the years by leaps and bounds and they are incredible just about every single game. In fact if the students are on break it is rather depressing. They add so much to the game.

The student section was completely full 30 minutes before tip. Great effort.

What Snipe said. That is just a lie. Maybe they sold 1,000 tickets to Patrick Dillon's brother for a penny a piece, but there is no way that no-shows accounted for the row after row of empty seats in the upper bowl.

For a 9PM tip on a weeknight, I thought the crowd was fantastic.
Semaj even managed to get the oldsters in the lower bowl to stand up and make noise on defense.

I know there are a lot of older people on this board than me but to not attend every Xavier game regardless of time of day is ridiculous if you live in the area in my opinion. How many times during the year will you be getting home late from a Xavier basketball game? 3 or 4? Suck it up for 3 or 4 days a year and get to the game. I apologize in advance if that offends anyone but I was not happy looking at empty seats everywhere while I was watching on TV last night.

I'm an oldster (66 and couunting), and I was there with a pal in my seats in 104. The lower bowl looked pretty full to me, and the crowd noise was decent. Of course I had downed a few beers (and burger) at Gordo's before the game. And since we got there before 6 and stayed to the half of the UK game, that gave us a lot of time to down those beers.

Next time I'll make a better effort to travel south to help lower the mean age of your posse. No one likes an old posse.

I didn't have an issue with the crowd last night. You've got to understand that a lot of people come to these games with kids (like me), or have kids and come with their wives (also like me), and a 9:00 game on a school night is a deal-breaker.
I'm surrounded by season ticket holders in my section, and a good portion of seats that I know are sold were empty, so I don't doubt the tickets sold number either.
I'll agree that there were no more than 8,000 actually in attendance, but I did think it was a pretty good crowd. Got loud and got going at the right parts of the game to get / keep the team going.

A lot of fans disguised themselves last night as empty seats. Not sure how it looked on tv, but it was a bit disappointing to see the number of empties.
One benefit though was the ability to move down to some of those empty seats in the lower bowl (without the use of that stupid app & having to pay for it).

Seriously? 8000? There had to be more than that. Maybe my view of the upper bowl is not as good from my seats in section 104, but it seemed to me it was mostly full and in the 9500 range. I didn't see the game on TV or from the lofty perch of Snipe and Kahns, so I may have completely missed it.
I am not worried about our attendance. The place will be full for most (if not all) of the Big East games.
