I never served. Was just high enough on my draft number (by only 4) not to have to go to Nam. Was very happy- and so was my veteran Dad.

My father did serve, however, and was a Tank Captain in Patton's Army landlng at Normandy under a hail of artillery fire. Glad he survived or there would be no MOR. The bravery that our men in uniform have shown, and the sacrifices that they have made, are not recognized enough.

Thank you Dad, Thanks to my nephew who is presently in the Navy, and to all our men and women now, and have been, in the Service of Our Country. I salute you!

Every time I watch the 1st 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan, the DDay scenes, I think to myself, "What would I have done ?" How they were not all paralyzed with fear amazes me. The courage and bravery was incomparable. I too lucked out in the draft lottery, but a big thank you to all that served.

Post this every year lest we forget. My former roommate @ X. We lived in the illustrious Swifton Village. He followed me to Quantico after he graduated. He was a hard worker. Hard drinker. Hard Ass. American Hero. He made almost every penny it took to come to X and graduated in '68, going right into the fight. I love 'ya Man:

I work with quite a few veterans, and I respect every one of them. One even got a bronze star from what he did in Afghanistan. They have done what I would never do, and I thank them for it.
