Well, Xavier just won (woot).

Providence beat Boston College in overtime. Boston College isn't that good, but then, Providence is missing some players.

St. John's lost to #20 Wisconsin by double digits. Allowing WISCONSIN to score 86 points is pretty bad. They are an efficient team, but they play so slow that no way should a defense let the score get that high.

Creighton is about to finish their destruction of Alcorn State.

Villanova is allowing it to be interesting against Lafayette. It was just 47-47, but they've opened it up a little to 58-53 with 4:46 left.

Marquette hasn't exactly put away Southern University, but they'll probably win. 54-44 with 3:58 left.

The big game is Georgetown vs. #19 Oregon. Oregon has the lead, 56-51, with 11:20 left in the game, but this would be a great Big East win to snag.

By the way, does this Georgetown-Oregon game actually count? It has the feel of an exhibition game (like the one on the aircraft carrier).

I'm watching the Georgetown game now.

It's not looking good, as Oregon has a five point lead at 67 to 62 with a little over four minutes left. And Georgetown is not looking all that impressive.

I think Georgetown is looking better defensively, but Oregon is just looking proportionally better offensively.

Josh Smith is really hard to stop on offense.

Looks like they're playing at Rose Hill.

In all seriousness, the Smith-Stainbrook matchup should be fun to watch. They are both very big men with great post moves.

Georgetown always seems to portray themselves as the elite bullies in the league, then underachieve when it really counts. Their soft per-conference schedules of past years are legendary, including their annual wars with St. Leo.

I hope they step it up, but with JT3, I'm not holding my breath. They already blew a chance to make a statement against Oregon. Glad Providence won though.

By the way, the A-10 was 7-0 last night. I don't remember that happening very often during our days in the league. Even Fordham found someone they could beat in their opener.

All of these games played in the Big East to start the season, and where was the Big East commissioner?

You guessed it....at the Cintas Center, watching the new flagship of this league.

Val Ackerman is no Linda Bruno or Bernadette McGlade. She actually looks like a woman and not a woman dressed in drag.

That Oregon match up was not as close as the score dictates. GT made up some ground in he final two minutes.
