Just thought I would lurk on here to see what the vibe was for the opener. I can tell you that Chris Holtmann did a fabulous job in rebuilding our program over the past three seasons and he will be missed. Our new HC, Tim Craft, will hopefully continue the progression. Our style has to be a half court game where we can defend and scrap. We can't get in a running match with you guys, despite our nickname. Our two best returning players are Strange at PG and Harper on the wing, with Texas A&M transfer Hibbert finally playing after sitting out last year, and will be relied on to be a major scoring threat. Our team won't be intimidated and I expect us to show and play well. We were within striking distance in every game we played last season.
If the game stays in the 60's, we'll be there with you guys until the end. X's goal should be to get the game into the 70's, which seems quite possible with that stud Christon y'all have.....a very impressive freshman last season with little respect from the media pinheads. Maybe moving into the Big East will help to get him some larger pub as long as he doesn't hit a soph slump, which I don't see happening.
If any of you know where I can catch the game online it would be appreciated. I know FSN Ohio has picked it up, but we won't get any feed down here. Thanks.

Welcome to the board!!!
I think that Christon and Randolph will definitely want to run, and hopefully we can open the game up. Our record at Cintas is pretty good, and I'm sure it'll be nice to have you guys fresh with a new HC, ultimately, I look for Christon to keep penetrating, and setting up our bigs for some good looks around the basket, or kick to Myles for a three or two, we have a lot of new talent coming in, and I'm excited to see them gel, I have a good feeling that we will open up the game around late first quarter to really get the momentum going, and our crowd into it. How are your bigs looking? Also, what can you say about the environment? Did G-Webb play in anything hostile last year, and will they have Freshman in that aren't used to it?

OK, so I'm watching Andy's monthly interview with the AD, and up pops this little tidbit.
Val is going to be in town for her first ever Xavier visit. Going out to dinner Thursday night with some donors. How many of you guys are in that lucky group?
Staying for the game on Friday; hope her seats are with the Lady Muskie, and the Popes don't start some chant to get her to do a Fr. Graham.
I expect a full report from all involved.

Opener last year was in Chapel Hill, and we were in it until UNC pulled away in the last five minutes. We won at DePaul, and had a 20 point lead at Iowa at half and fell apart in the second half and lost. We lost by 1 at Illinois on a late three. You'll likely see only two true freshmen play tomorrow night, Tuff and Nelson. The team really should play comfortable in your hostile environment.

Unfortunately, we have to endure the Charlotte Hornets, er, Bobcats telecast on Sportsouth in this market, which sucks.

Just the Bobcats? Xavier was also fighting for airtime on FSOhio with the Blue Jackets and Cavs in the past. (We feel your pain, though.)
Thankfully this year, such conflicts are minimal with the lion's share of X games on the new Fox Sports 1/2.

G-Webb, I don't know where you are located, but I'm right down the road in Spartanburg.
On Charter Cable, SPSOH (Channel 812) is broadcasting the game. That's a channel on the expanded basic.
If you're right over the line, slip down to Gaffney and get some bar to dial it in for you.
(Of course I say that, and currently playing on that channel are the Bobcats, who are NOT on the schedule according to Charter. Anything might happen Friday night. They're playing the Knicks at 7)

There are two channels with similar names. There's Fox Sports South and Sports South. Isn't it FSSO that carries the Bobcats and not SPSO? The X-GW game shows to be on SPSO.

Yup. Our lack of depth definitely led to some losses, like Wofford, where we had the game in hand and let it get away. Memphis was another good example of this.
I've got to think that even with an inexperienced team, we're not going to see that happen as much.

Some are harmful and you just have to find the place to exit out of the popup. Finding that is sometimes difficult though. For example, one of the popups for this one is to install uPlayer, which will start spamming your computer with unnecessary videos after the download.

I AM SO SMART. Open the browser and just keep hitting tab. I was in firefox and you can see what each link you are tabbing through is named. When you hit the one that says javascript(void) then hit enter. It will remove the ad!

Are you using firefox? If you are on the window with the ilivid ad (where the video should be) just start hitting tab slowly. You should get a little dialog box in the bottom left or bottom right of the browser that lists the destination of the link. When you are hitting tab you are going through all of those potential links starting from the top of the page to the bottom. When you hit the one that says javascript(null or void) then hitting enter "follows" the link. The null/void is the x-ing out of the ad.

Anybody that watch the game want to give a quick synopsis of how Justin Martin played? Just from looking at the box score his line leaves a little to be desired.
A few nice hustle plays and a couple nice scores but other than that he wasn't much of a presence.

Similar to last year, IMHO. Flashes of hustle and good play, but still very hesitant on offense.

Also does anyone have AT&T U-Verse? I recorded FS Cincinnati in HD on 1732 because the guide had it listed. If I get home after working tonight and end up watching poker or All-Access Cavs or Blue Jackets Slap Shots I will not be a happy camper.

I have Uverse. For whatever reason Fox Sports Cincinati switched to a Baylor football ame for about the first 7 minutes then finally got the X game on. Sports South was on the XU game all the way, thankfully, so I didn't miss anything.

He played fine. Good on defense but needs to be more aggressive on offense. He was out two hours before the game working hard, one of the first guys out there. He will be key to this team in my opinion. They need him to be good. He has the tools.

What I saw Friday night.
LIKE-- Every scholarship player scored. That my friends is depth.
13 assists on 28 made baskets..needs to be better.
Team seems unselfish.
Xwon the rebounding 45-27, points in paint 44-30, 2nd chance pts, 18-6, Bench pts 29-14.
STARS---1st, (tie) Stainbrook (M) double double and 5-5 from Ft line and Brandon Randolph, 12 pts and 7 assists to one TO in 36 minutes., 3d, James Farr, 10 pts, 9 rebounds 1 steal in only 13 minutes. 4th Semaj lead the team in scoring.
LONE DISMAL POINT: Free throws. And refs were foul happy. 66 free throws shot 52 fouls called.

Loved the "heart and hustle" of this team. Everybody came ready to play. Stain first d/d in an opener since Jamel McLean. Farr showed why he has been wearing the gold jersey of late. Came in and hit the boards hard. Philmore 4 fouls early, but still came back and dealt some more punishment. Stenger diving all over the floor for 50/50's and contributing on both ends. Dude is earning the scholly. Semaj was Semaj. Tough defense the way Mack likes it. Randolph great start. Lots of weapons. Hope Dee and Myles can come back soon. We need 'em.. Martin whacked his head again but played pretty well. Love the depth.

I think Joe and Byron do a great job, but can someone please, please, PLEASE tell them it is pronounced Chris-ton not Christian. Joe especially reverts back to Christian too often.
