I'm thinking Gonzaga will struggle to win the WCC and/or get inside the bubble. I'm not sure what the writers see in them that warrants ranking them #15.
Harvard will likely end the season in the rankings. They're getting votes now. I personally think they're a fringe top 40 team, but we all know how the rankings work. They won't lose many games, and will move up by default as better teams beat each other and knock them down the polls.
Michigan State is ranked #2. If history is any indicator, they will lose a lot of tough games, fall down the rankings (or out of them entirely), lose early in the Big Ten Tournament, get into the NCAAs as a solid #5 or #6 seed, and then proceed to advance to the Final Four.
I'm not a believer in Memphis, but I never really am.
Somebody, for some reason, voted for Boston College. I guess that was done on purpose.
I'm a little surprised that Creighton isn't ranked, although they're not far off.
So, every year there is a team (or several teams) that receives no votes and that no one is talking about that ends up being a huge player on the national scene. Miami FL from last season for instance. A team I really like is Colorado, although they are getting votes so you really can't say they were as ignored as Miami was at the beginning of last year. I think they are going to be a huge force in the Pac Twelve, though. I wouldn't be surprised to see them high in the rankings before it's all over. Me saying that probably just jinxed them for the entire season.
I don't know what to make of us. I really don't. We always seem to do better than what the prognosticators say we will. I have more questions than answers as to whether or not we'll be a player on the national scene.
Hoops is here!!!!
