Call me crazy but I thought Remy looked like the best player on the court... Only 16 minutes but he looked good. Jalen also looked solid.

Solid crowd at Cintas tonight. Nearly 5,000 on hand. Dunk contest was off the charts this year. Semaj and Jalen can throw down. Stainbrook looked solid and Jalen is as advertised. Only guy who looked "bad" was Martin. Remy Abell stole the show IMO. Kid was pumped to be on the floor and it showed. He was all over the place. He'll be something next season. But, it's only a scrimmage, blah blah blah.

Yes I've sat on the many times for high school games.

THAT is hilarious. And Trevon Bluiett was still considering them? HA!

Obviously Butler had to pull the old "Let's put the gathering of people that stumbled in here all on one side of the building to where the TV cameras are facing so it looks like a throng" trick.

ESPN will be doing that for AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC! Bball games this year a lot..I think.

Chap away! At least Butler doesn't have raw sewage roiling through the building.

If Musketeer Madness was any indication, you had better get to the games early if you want to get a decent parking spot. I've been to many of these, and that is the first time I've had so much trouble finding a place to sit.

Very well done, Muskie fans.

You know what is also hilarious?

On the ButlerHoops board, idiots over there are talking that XU "only" had about 5,000 at MM and that there were "thousands" of empty seats. Then they talk about their 3,000 and say that they "did it right". HaHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Man, they really hate us over there...to the point of calling us a "cesspool". Well, they're only about 50 miles off.

Maybe they should teach a geography class at BU.

Every conference needs a UD....even if they can't find a watermelon.

Is that a banner hanging below the "dawg pound" sign with pictures of "fans" to fill the void? Awesome job Butler!

Individual Players:
Abell looked awesome. And he was definitely getting into the scrimmage, showing emotion and all - in a scrimmage.

Jalen has buckets of potential. Hopefully he can avoid fouling like a machine.

I was disappointed Myles didn't get a look during the scrimmage. They didn't even set him up.

Dee made some stupid passes, then he made some awesome passes.

Stainbrook is the ultimate garbage man. The type of guy you just want to punch in the face when you play against him.

Kamall was solid. He didn't stand out in any one way, but he was solid. I see him being a good glue guy down the road.

Martin was bad again.

Team Notes:

It was good to see Semaj take Randolph under his wing at times. He's really stepping into a leadership role.

Stainbrook and Reynolds practicing against each other every day is a great thing. Those two competing will make them both much better.

Despite Semaj and Randolph playing together on the white team, I thought the blue team moved the ball much, much better.

That area is handicap seating... The other side is worse, as it houses the band, and another handicap area.

With the renovation, the seating will thankfully extend the entire length of the baseline on both ends, and hopefully the cheesy banners will be gone.

Also, FYI they kept everyone on one side, which pushed the crowd all the way to the top into the first few rows of the upper bleachers. Some estimated estimated it at 3-3.5K . Not bad really since this was a no frills scrimmage with relatively little promotion.

I anticipate Butler doing more next year once the renovations are complete, but they probably will never put on a circus like some of the other BE programs do... good or bad, its not our style.

By the way, it was more than the ESPN College Gameday crowd we had last year...

Milhouse
10-28-2013, 09:03 AM
Actually 3k -3.5k would be a really good turnout for Butler since they only average 7k in attendance. so getting near half for a scrimmage in a year that is almost certainly a down year (perhaps not much hope of an up year in the future either....unless a coveted recruit decides on Butler)

How did Philmore look?

I thought Phillmore looked good. It was evident that his legs are healthier. He was faster and had some explosiveness to his jumping. He looked more confident and smoother than last year. He took one wide open 3 pointer after he looked first to pass; the shot had good rotation and came off his hand well. He didn't make it, but it was much more than a last option prayer. I'm hoping that he'll make some mid-range jumpers this year. He competed, looked like he had his head intensely in the scrimmage. Played good position defense inside and got out to the perimeter on defense very effectively...Semaj and Myles got pretty well shut down in terms of open looks from 3, and Isaiah was a big part of that, along with Dee and Remy.
