I hope everyone is as excited as I am for the upcoming season. As the program enters a new era in the Big East, there is sure to be plenty of can't miss games at Cintas this season. This post is directed at season ticket holders but certainly applies to everyone here as this is a great platform and many posters try to attend as many games as possible.

A recent Xavier alum has started a website called Tixers.com. The site is geared towards allowing season ticket holders to get more value out of their season tickets. With Tixers, season ticket holders as well as single game ticket holders can upload tickets they are unable to use in exchange for other tickets in the future. In most cases, if you cannot attend a Xavier game this season, you can exchange the tickets to the site and receive credit immediately that you can use for a future home or road Xavier game later in the year, Reds, Bengals, Ohio State football, Big East tournament, ect. The possibilities are endless as your Tixers credit never expires. Tixers has received some local recognition recently in the business courier as well as from WCPO that you can read more about below:

The founder is a huge Xavier fan himself and has reached out to me to try and find people whose interest he can best serve and I immediately thought of this board as a great way to find ticket holders who probably waste a few tickets each year.

If you have any questions please feel free to post questions below or you can find them on facebook or twitter, @Tixers.

Very interesting concept. Thanks for posting. I can't see a time when I'd miss some Xavier games but this seems like a great place to go if I do.

I will definitely keep them in mind. Does he post here? If you could pm me his email, I'd like to chat with him.

Why is this better than selling on Stubhub?

Why is this better than selling on Stubhub?
It may not be. But it is good to have more than one option in my opinion.

Did the founder of Stubhub go to Xavier?

Tixers is not better or worse than stubhub per say. It is different however in that if you are looking to rid yourself of tickets that may go unused or you simply do not want to attend, you are getting 100% of the value of the ticket. When trying to sell on StubHub there is no guarentee that your tickets will sell; and if they do, the seller usually gets about 70-80% of the sale after all is said and done.

I'd just like to know what differentiates their product from one that's already available. If the only differentiation is that these guys went to X, that might be enough. But I'm hoping there's something more than that.

His name is Alex Burkhart, a 2011 graduate of X. He had a full time gig at Macy before spawning the idea and his goal is to service as many people in the Cincinnati market as possible. He has a numbe of clients and has been managing accounts now for 2 or 3 months. His email is alex@tixers.com and welcomes anyone wanting to buy or sell X tickets. He provides the same service for Bengals, Reds, UC, UK, UD as well.

I personally am going to go through him, get as much credit as I can for home games I will miss and try and find away game tickets and especially X-UC Tickets as they are not provided in the season ticket package.

I think the main goal is to eliminate the hassle that often times comes with trying to sell your tickets online or through a scalper. If you know you will likely be going to other sporting events later on, it makes sense to get 100% value for your ticket. He has told me the credit you build can be used for any sporting event in the future, similar to a frequent flyer program.

So everything is at face value on both the "buy" and "sell" side? No money exchanges hands unless the face value of the ticket you exchange is less than the face of the ticket you buy? Is that right? So if you give up your Gardner-Webb game, you're getting full credit, but you can only get a ticket to a new game if someone is willing to give up a ticket at face value for it? So you're not likely to get Georgetown at home in exchange for GW, but you might get DePaul. Is that about right?

The airlines give frequent flyer miles for you to buy more of their tickets to build points.
Alex can't be in this deal for his health. He needs to be getting something to stay in business, other than moving face value from one place to another.
Good luck to him though as a Muskie.

Yeah, I assumed there was some sort of fee taken out by the company. I guess I meant that no money changes hands as between "buyers" and "sellers".

I believe the amount of credit a person receives depends on a number of variables including face value price, ticket demand for that particular game, etc. In the instance that you brought up (Garner-Webb, Georgetown), you would receive X amount of credit for your GarnerW ticket(s) which yes, would probably not be enough to trade straight up for Georgetown. However, if you are giving up multiple GarnerW tickets (say 2-4) that may be enough to get you one or two Georgetown tickets. It also works in that you could give up multiple games (say GarnerW, Miami, Morehead) and for each ticket, you get credit that you could redeem for a better game later in the year.

The bottom line is essestially what you give Tixers you can get back, which can mean trading 2 tickets for 2 tickets if the perceived value is equal or trading multiple lesser value tickets for one high value ticket. The latter of these two is what he has explained to me has been more often the case in the early stages the business.

So for example, I know some people traded their remaining Reds seats they had back in September to him for Bengals tickets this season. If a client traded 2 reds seats to the final series of the season, they received a good amount of credit (since the games were all sellouts). This credit was then used to pay for a large portion of the Bengals seats but not quit all of the cost, so there was still cash exchanged along with the small convenience fee (I think it is around $5) to redeem their credit, which is where he makes his money. There is NO FEE to trade your tickets for credit, only a small one to redeem your credit I believe.
