Surprised that no one posted this yet, but this is some cool stuff about Landen Amos. Makes me proud, again, to be a Musketeer!
And makes me happy that Fox Sports 1 is seeking out good stuff about Big East schools.
@FOXSportsOH: Yesterday, @FOXSportsLive's Best Person in Sports was Landen Amos of @XUAthletics.

If you didn't see Shannon Russel's well written article about Landen, it's here:

I read that the other night (and it is posted down in the news list) and am once again beaming with pride over the men and women that represent me as an XU Alum.
The most telling thing here is that this relationship has been ongoing for quite some time, it was not sold to the newspaper, rather it had to be searched out. I think young Mr Amos and our athletic staff are following a principal I think best exhibited by the good and charitable works works that Brian Grant did for many years without reaching out for attention. Someone said it "Do the right thing even if no one is watching"

Any chance he sees minutes this year as a lock down defender?
I guess there's technically always a chance...

Great kid - but if he sees consistent playing time this year, we're in big trouble.

I loved reading that article!
As someone who grew up with a parent who was physically disabled, I can understand the family's delight in a player like Amos showing his encouragement and sharing his time. It's tough enough growing up and trying to take on life's challenges, but this kid is doing it with spunk.
And I never thought Amos was much of a handicap for our team. Yes, he struggled to score, but I preferred his defense to some other options and he wasn't chucking up bad shots all the time. I hope his skill set improved this past year enough where is hard work will earn him decent time on the floor.

Agreed. Not the same depth problem for X this season.

I'm not surprised at all that no one posted it. If Father Graham has ordered that no chocolate chip cookies be served there would be a 25 page thread calling for his and Luther Smith's head.
As for Amos, Good on him. This program has players we'd all like our children, nieces, and nephews to emulate.

I think what Amos brings to the floor is underestimated. He may not be a scholarship player, and he may not be an offensive threat, but he has a role on this team and it's not just at practice and cheering on the sideline. He may not see the minutes he saw last year for depth reasons alone, but I suspect he'll play in most if not all games this season, as long as he is healthy.

I agree with this post. It's nice having those athletic guys that you know will give their all to help the team win. He may not see a lot of minutes or put up any points, but it's nice having those glue guys that can provide an energetic spark at the end of the bench.
And at the very least, you know he is and will be busting his ass off in practice and keeping a lot of these freshmen sharp and in game shape mentally.
