How does one pop for Xavier exactly? This seems potentially dangerous.
It's kinda like what Dez did except with a school instead of a woman...
Well it's 3 pm here in Indy, school day is over...so if he's going to announce...should be anytime..although James Blackmon announced for IU last eve. on ESPNU.

Most people assume the someone else will be Martin going elsewhere for his 5th year, but it could also be that one of the incoming guys doesn't qualify.

Actually, the Butler douche bags are even better, or should I write more bitter. Butler was never going to land this kid because they were already so deep and talented at his position, according to these disgruntled fans. Beyond that, they take the position that Jones is going to eat his lunch for the next couple of years.
And of course, the fans of the LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD also will begin to chime in about his character soon enough.

And now we can say "Trevon, what the %$#@ took you so long."
The truth is that his commitment just might be a bigger deal for the program than his actual play on the court as he just might be the first recruit we got in large part due to the Big East. In recent memory, I cannot think of a recruit we got that had an offer from Purdue (not counting Jeff Robinson here). Now, all of the sudden, we get a guy with offers from MSU, Memphis, Purdue, and Butler. Hopefully we will start getting into some more competitive recruiting battles with OSU and end the status quo of Madda getting his choice of the top OH recruits.

Do you remember Kenny's, Justin Martin's, or Dez's offers? Being in the Big East definitely has helped but X has been getting good players with "better" offers for awhile. That being said, this might be X's best class ever because of it's depth.

Opps, my bad. But with Martin, I thought it was due to grades. I just remember losing many recruiting battles to Purdue, which would tick me off because we have beaten them on a regular basis over the years.

Losing Macura and Bluiett because the Celtics stole our coach sucks, but not as much it does because they went to X.
Really thought he would end up at MSU because of Izzo and being Final Four U, but if there's a silver lining for a Butler fan, its that the Big East gets stronger with him in the league. Just wish it wasn't your program getting stronger.
Will be interesting to see if Mack can put it all together and accomplish something special with this group.

Want to compliment Nildog for his/her straightforwardness. Perhaps most Butler fans are like Bulldawg, in which case our participation in the Big East with Butler might come to manifest the mutual respect among adversaries that we see in the GCL. It sounds like Nildogg might have feel some of this, but not as much. Could Butler ever become for X the new Dayton? I for one hope not. We are now in a higher profile league, and our recruiting is in keeping with that.

I am personally absolutely amazed by the recruiting jobs done by Mack & Co.
Lots of bad pub in the last couple yrs. and even a former player suing us doesn't stop the excellent recruiting and Kids wanting to wear the Xavier Blue. Job very well done under some very trying circumstances. Head to Head with Izzo just shows we can be in the picture with any recruit nationwide. MSU fans amazed TB could possibly pick X over their FF franchise. I say "get use to it".

Just watched that video and while he's not Melvin Levitt (thank gawd) athletically, his game is silky smooth. That J is Redford quick and while he's a bit wide in the backside area ala Sullinger, he's quick with his movement and his dribble is tight. Very, very excited for Treyvon and what he's going to grow into. X!

Here is what ESPN had to say about Trevon:
Scout's take: Xavier lands Bluiett
By Adam Finkelstein | November 1, 2013 4:57:20 PM PDT
ESPN 100 SF Trevon Bluiett made a verbal commitment to Xavier on Friday, simultaneously ending what has been a long and complicated recruiting process, and giving Musketeers' coach Chris Mack a major addition to his frontline.
Dave Telep/ESPN
ESPN 100 SF Trevon Bluiett rounds out Xavier's class with commitments at all five positions.
Why he committed: When it was all said and done, the opportunity to stay close to home and step right into immediate minutes was too much for Bluiett to pass up on. Distance was a big factor in his decommitment from UCLA, where his former high school coach Ed Schilling is now one of Steve Alford's assistants. Since that point, Butler Michigan State and Memphis to a somewhat lesser extent, made pushes for Bluiett, but it has been Xavier in the driver's seat. Recent on-campus visits sealed the deal for Xavier.
What he brings: Bluiett is an elite level shot-maker, who drills deep threes and pull-ups with equal ease. But more than that, he's a true scorer, with plenty of mismatch potential. He understands how to come off screens away from the ball, utilizes his thick lower body to create space, and is very poised and crafty when operating in the mid-range area. While he might not be a blow-by driver, he's capable of getting himself into the lane and is also a good passer off the bounce. He's going to bring even more versatility, because he'll be capable of seeing time at either forward position, allowing Mack the flexibility to go with a bigger lineup with him at the three, or go with a smaller, quicker group with him as a floor-spacing four.
How he fits: First and foremost, he's going to be capable of stepping right in and making an immediate contribution for Xavier with his ability to stretch defenses and put points on the board. In the not too distant future, he should be poised to become a focal point for this team for the foreseeable future. What makes his commitment all the more important is that, as a slightly undersized and not totally explosive perimeter forward, Bluiett is likely to spend three or four years in the college ranks before playing his way to the next level. That type of longevity is rare of guys with this much talent, and so when it is all said and done there might not be many players anywhere in the 2014 class that have quite as impactful a total college career.
Who he reminds us of: I'm going to stick with the comparison that Paul Biancardi made upon Bluiett's initial commitment to UCLA -- he's reminiscent of a poor man's Paul Pierce in that he's a relatively stocky wing who isn't truly explosive but athletic enough to complement his physical strength and advanced skill set in order to make him the versatile scorer and total offensive player that he is.
How the class is shaping up: This is just the punctuation mark that Mack was looking for to complete a deep and talented 2014 recruiting class. Bluiett joins Makinde London and Edmond Sumner as the third ESPN 100 prospect to commit to Xavier and fills the only void in the group as an accomplished wing scorer. Combine that with London and Sean O'Mara, another six-foot-nine big man, along with a pair of skilled guards in Sumner and J.P. Macura, and Mack and his staff have now put together a class that not only fills all five positions on the floor but has the ability to protect the rim on the defensive end, and stretch opposing defenses out with a trio of 3-point shooters. Combine that with the fact that this group will get to grow and blossom together from day one, and this is a five-man unit that no one in the Big East will want to play in a couple of years.

It reminds me of how writers would talk about Pitt's Dejuan Blair. They were more blatant about it, though, saying, "Yes, he's only 6'7" entering the NBA draft, but he makes good use of his big ass to create space."

A lot of the top prospects who're still undeclared will probably end up choosing Kentucky, OSU, or UNC. I'm sure X will be passed up by a few other teams but this is definitely a top ten class and probably will be the best in the BE.

It will likely be best in the Big East according to ESPN. It will probably be 3rd according to Scout (who I think more of on the the recruiting front). Either way, on paper it is our best class ever (Brown, Lumpkin, Posey, Williams, Sutherland, Murray is going down!).

It's so long until next November, and history has shown that a lot of stuff will happen between now and then.
I'd put the chance of everything working out at around 50%. But boy, it sure would be nice to see them all suited up next year.
Meanwhile, there's a BE crown to be contested. Let's sneak up on 'em.
And as an aside...this should bury all the nonsense about us being hurt by the brawl, Dez stuff, etc. Nice job Mack (and staff).
