Anybody else going to this?

Last year's was a lot of fun. Nice tour of Cintas Center, unique photo opportunities, and this year player autographs.

It was also a nice touch last year that everybody received a free copy of Xavier Tales.

It's not real conducive to the businessman, the Cintas doors open at 5:30, and the event ends at 7:00, and RSVPs were due last Friday.

Also among my memories of last year - meeting Joe Sunderman in the concourse after the event, and having a lengthy conversation with him about the upcoming season. What a great down to earth man we have representing us on the radio waves.

Not able to make it. 5:30-7:00 is tough on a week night.

My brother and I will be there. Really looking forward to it. I haven't been "behind the scenes" at Cintas in a few years so I'm interested to see some of the new jerseys and murals and other stuff like that back by the locker rooms. Anybody know how the autographs are going to work? Should I plan on bringing something from home or will they have posters/pictures/whatever available?

I have to go to function at son's HS and discuss college stuff. As if that's important.

Unfortunately no way I can get there that early on a week night. Would love to hear a synopsis from anyone that does go.

I'll be there with my 2-yr old daughter as wife has other plans. I assume it is appropriate to bring her? She is shy and very well behaved.

Speaking from last years - should not be a problem with children.

The first half hour to hour is self guided tours of Cintas. I'm not sure how much she will appreicate that at that age. The last hafl hour so so last year was a town hall with the AD and coaches.

The entire lower seating bowl was open last year for the town hall, so if she becomes impatient there are plenty of far off seats to hide in. Also last year's gifts did include the Xavier kid's activity book, and they had a big bin of the Ball Toss balls for the taking.

Mc: Andy Mac

introduced Greg (our new AD) - he thanked the fan base and talked up the historic moment we are in moving to the biggest stage in basketball

Both coaches talked about schedules.

Q&a : no Dayton for two years, may not be in out interest to pick that back up

Myles Davis - stand not certain for when will resume.

St. Louis - same talk as in fan forums for big east, would be a viable non con schedule.

Both teams excited to play all the big east teams. Dodging the question of what game to you fear the most.

Mack encourages everyone who is able to go to the big east tournament.

Talked about David West visit to insure the team. Pracitice starts Monday. They can practice 30 of the 42 days till opening day.

Talked about how A10 was good for us but really became a case of the haves and have nots. big east - all schools invest well in their teams.

Introducing new players.

New court logo and end zone banners are up. Gifts this year were men's and women's schedule posters.

Autograph session on the court with the team, with a cash bar on the hardwood.

Pointed our the new 40 court side seats and the much smaller media table.

Door prize was 2 crosstown tickets.

No other mention of little brother across town.

I had a lot of fun. Got to talk to Greg Christopher for a minute and say hi to Andy Mac. Walked around and sat virtually everywhere around the court (both team benches, scorer's table, press row, the new courtside seats) and walked all around behind the scenes. Then my brother and I shot baskets for a solid 20 minutes. That may have been the highlight for me. It's always cool to shoot baskets in a major college arena. Didn't get any autographs but no biggie. I was more interested in exploring anyways.

So if I understand correctly Coaster, there is no set time for M Davis' return?

And, there is buzz "for" SLU to join the conference coming from within the BE circle?

I took my 6 year old daughter and we had a great time. She loved being able to dribble around the court and shoot hoops. It was cool to get a chance to see some of the behind-the-scenes stuff like the lockerrooms and the weight room. I'm not sure how a recruit can't be impressed by the number of NBA jerseys of former XU players on the walls.

And to top it all off, it was also cool that my daughter won the Crosstown Shootout tix.

The event sure got me ready for hoop season!

I didn't go, but the rest of the family did and they had nothing but good things to say about it. Little LM came home with tons of signatures and got to have her picture taken with just about everyone. She was beyond excited. I only just got her to bed a little bit ago because she couldn't stop talking about it. The hubby also had lots of good things to say. He said he thinks this event is even better than Midnight Madness.

Nice work Lamont's daughter! Hope she takes her dad to the game and not some buddy of hers!

Waggy - that was the feeling I gt on Myles - is that he has a recovery/rehab road ahead of him. I beleive Coach Mack's words were more hopeful in "We would like to have him back soomer rather than later" I took it to mean there is no hard timeframe at this time, and they are hoping for the best.

Re - St. Louis - Any Big East Expansion chatter was disclaimed by stating "I am only saying what I have been reading in the media outlets" - and that, as we know STL is one of the names that keeps coming up. My comment was that, when asked if we would consider STL as a non-conference game, the reply was that they would be a viable candidate for a non-con game.

I don't think I said it above, but Greg said the coaches will tell you that 10 is the perfect number of teams, but his personal gut feeling is that expansion is likely. He then laughed it off saying "Says the guy with an entire 4 months on the job" Similar to how he talked about UD and if we would consider them OOC and he said that rivalries are very important in college sports, but there may be strategic reasons to keep distance. And that they are one of our top competitors , so read between the lines...

Really enjoyed it as well. Locker room and stuff on the walls everyone looks awesome.

I love the "ROAD KILL" graphics in the locker room with each opponents logo up that we have beaten on the road each year. Very cool.

Jalen Reynolds is SOOO tall and seemed like a nice kid from a few minutes talking to him. Can't wait to see some put-back dunks from him at Cintas!
