This is nothing new, but Rush the Court had a blurb this morning that recalls the Myron Piggie activity that benefitted Duke a few years ago. This was also around the time that Xavier had just lost to Duke in Atlanta.

With the recent skating of Duke (again) over "JewelryGate" and North Carolina skating over obvious academic fraud, I just thought it appropriate that the following Dan Wetzel article from 2004 be re-posted.

Clean Coach K? BS.

Color me surprised...I seem to remember the NCAA saying they had proof Cam Newton's dad was shopping him around, investigated for something like a couple weeks, and came up with a decision that since Cam himself didn't know he was fine. Forget the fact that his price tag was something like $100k at Ole Miss and he went to Auburn instead (how much did Auburn come up with).

Not to mention, the going rate for a McDonald's AA is right around $100k. When Wiggins signed at Kansas, I gave my Jayhawk friend so much crap about Self backing up the Brinks Trucks.

This is an article by a Chicago sports talk radio guy. He has some not so warm and fuzzy feelings about Coach K and the basketball program.

He just told the story of just about every D-1 basketball program in the country. Hell, it's pretty close to the stories at D-2 and D-3 programs. Not sure it's much of an indictment of Coach K or Duke. Maybe it's an indictment of the sport. But look -- athletes are popular, and people have an innate desire to please and help those they admire. A lot of this stuff happens in HIGH SCHOOL programs, where the sport contributes almost nothing to the school's bottom line.

I was disappointed when I opened the thread - I thought we were going to get a verdict on the U's football program/rogue booster.
