The Chris Mack Show on 55KRC is moving locations from T.G.I. Friday’s on Montgomery Road to the dilly bistro, bar & bottle shop on 6818 Wooster Pike in Mariemont this season.
Dilly will host to all 16 live radio shows with Mack beginning Nov. 4. The shows will air Monday nights from 7-8 p.m. (Nov. 4,11, 18, 25; Dec. 2, 9, 16; Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27; Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24; March 3). There are no shows Dec. 23 and 30.
The restaurant also will host Xavier Nights on the four consecutive Mondays leading up to the radio show (Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28). Each Xavier Night begins at 5 p.m, and patrons wearing Musketeers-logoed apparel will receive a 10-35 percent discount on their dine-in food. The discount, chosen each week by dilly management, will represent the jersey number of a former Xavier player.
Kind of an odd (and overpriced) venue for a coaches show. Seems way too hipster for college basketball.

Mariemont is gorgeous.
It probably helps make your point, but when I lived in Cincinnati while going to Xavier for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I never made it out that way. This summer, while in Cincinnati teaching at Xavier, my wife, who discovered it, took us out there; I was amazed.
We had dinner at the National Exemplar. We followed that up with a Graeter's ice cream down the street.
Frankly, it isn't that hard to travel there. I hope it all works out.

It's so good Dash said it twice.
Actually Mariemont is a great little area.
But I don't understand if they were going off campus, why not just go over to Northern Ky near Mack's house.
Walt's? Is that close?

Has anyone eaten there? Is it good? Looks a little pricey.
Weird choice. It's actually a great little place, but I'm not sure about it for a coach's show. I think I'm more surprised that Dilly would be interested.

Great food, awesome beer selection too. I have been there many times and it makes zero sense for a coaches show. It is WAY too small. I don't think the restaurant holds more than 100 people, and that would be pushing it.
Put it this way, I would eat lunch there...in fact I take customers there all the time. But I wouldn't go out of my way to go there for dinner. It is solid, but out of the way tucked behind the National Exemplar. I mean tucked back, as in you wouldn't know it was there by driving down Wooster Pike. I haven't been to a show in a few years, but Dilly Deli much smaller than Friday's. It is smaller than the Glendale Pub....and it might be the smallest place I have ever heard of for a coaches show.

Agreed. Great food and wine. It's a little pricy, but is VERY small. I don't think the layout lends itself to a coaches show.

The menu looks good, but overall a little Hoighty Toighty for a coaches show. Some type of Pub or Sports Bar would seem more appropriate.

The rest of the Big East holds their coaches' shows in the kinds of venues NBA coaches might hold a coach's show. We are going to be at a competitive disadvantage from a coach's show standpoint in this league.

I'm a manager at dilly in Mariemont, an X grad and former team manager. We are excited to host the Chris Mack show. We have an open restaurant which will make the show easy to see and hear from everywhere in the place. The show will be on our indoor stage which we use for live music other nights. We have ample parking, a great beer bar and a great menu. Our burgers are our best kept secret and we have the best beer cheese dip anywhere. We are a local neighborhood place, very casual and not nearly as upscale as some are perceiving. Our website is being redone to better exemplify that. Our kitchen plans to run fun specials like wings during the shows which we don't normally offer. We can accommodate well over 100 people and it's estimated 60-80 people come to the average show. Reservations will be accepted as well. Mariemont is a cool spot and very accessible in the heart of where a large segment of X fans live. Our owner and myself are avid Muskie fans and we are going to do all we can to make this a great experience for all. Stop by and check us out and make sure to say hello...Go X!

Looking forward to the season. Best wishes at Dilly's. I've been more than once and I live in Chicago - discovered it through Wine Spectator and it's close to where I grew up on the East side. I think of Dilly as a place where they try to do more than the ordinary and still keep a casual atmosphere. I think it's one of the best value restaurants in the city for what you get. (See my Dec 2011 post (http://www.xavierhoops.com/showthread.php?15834-Best-Restaurant-in-Cincy&p=304558#post304558)). Mariemont is definitely on the East side, but there are multiple ways to get there ... Columbia Parkway, fairly close to I-71, and even I275 via Rt 32. Worth to check it out on it's own before the Chris Mack show starts and I'm glad it's partly run by Xavier alums. Go X!

On campus would be the best; maybe the new Commons thing will have a place to hold it.

I actually would have guessed more. When it was on campus, every seat in the place was full, and it wasn't uncommon to have overflow outside. It was harder to tell at Fridays because some people would be there anyway.

I would have never thought of Dilly as a place for a burger. I'll add it to my list and get the review up as soon as possible.

I've been -- it's a nice place, but it's pretty far down the list of places I'd associate with doing a college sports radio show.
I have this funny image of Byron, Joe and Coach Mack all sipping on red wine, with a cheese plate in front of them, discussing the latest book they've read. That's what I think about when I think of Dilly Cafe.

For once, I think Gladden does make a valid point here - I've always wondered why there's never been a Chris Mack/Sean Miller/Thad Matta TV show on Fox Sports Net. You have to go back to the Musketeer Report on WCPO to find the last time any of the coaches had anything resembling a coaches' show on TV.
In all likelihood, my guess is that ratings just haven't been that strong on the radio end (and certainly not on the TV end) to justify the show having what many on here would consider a decent location. I just don't think it's Fr. Graham making such a decision in his lair cackling like Shredder or Krang or Gargamel or (insert favorite cartoon villain here).

Hilarious. I assume this marketing function is managed by Learfield just like all other radio promotions and sponsorships.
As far as Mariemont, it's 5.6 miles from campus, a mile and a half closer than the kenwood Fridays. Not sure what the joke is - putting the show in a locally owned business? Putting it near the fan base?

Unbelievable.
Perhaps we could go back and look at the facts behind this: "The radio show is a product of Xavier Athletics and Learfield Sports’ Xavier Sports Properties."
That would be Learfield Sports: http://learfieldsports.com/
BTW, go to the "What We Do" / "Our Partners" tabs to see their client line-up.
Father Graham made this decision? Um, no. That's just a stupid statement to make.
Between an Athletic Department that has gotten things much more right than more wrong, and between a professional sports marketing firm, I just have to wonder if they did get this right, especially given that you can't please everyone, as is clearly documented here.
Maybe they checked a plot of Cincinnati area alumni on a map, finding most located in the eastern areas of Cincinnati. Maybe they like that Mariemont is a nice address.
I wonder if anyone associated with the decision actually drove out to look over the place, discussing logistics with the owner/managers - - no, that could not have possibly happened.
I wonder if, given that the owner/managers appear to be Xavier people, that a Xavier connection had anything to do with it.

Geez. I'm not sure how Fr. Graham has so much time to do so many dastardly things. You'd think he'd be so busy trying to screw over Dez Wells and his rear-end kissers that he wouldn't have time to screw up the location of the radio show, and yet . . . It's really kind of impressive when you think about it.
To think, this all started when Fr. Graham shot Kennedy from that grassy knoll. Since then, he's thought he could get away with anything.

The most recent article I can find is from June 20, 2012 in CityBeat and says this:
As of Tuesday, June 19, the day this story went to print, those advocates can breathe a little easier; at the recommendation of the City Planning Commission, City Council’s Livable Communities Committee voted unanimously to recommend that City Council establish an Interim Development Control (IDC) in Pleasant Ridge, which will essentially act as a temporary order of protection on the Pleasant Ridge business district, according to Chamlee. City Council was to take the final vote on the IDC’s establishment Wednesday, June 20.
By they way, there's this fabulous thing called Google where you can type in a series of words like "Pleasant Ridge Walgreens" and find this and other articles about halfway down the first page. Isn't modern technology wonderful!!!

I can attest to that. I lived in Milford for 6 years and cut through Terrace Park quite a bit. You didn't dare go over the speed limit. No free 5 mph buffer there. It's called bored cops and revenue enhancement. Also, the speed limit goes from 45 or 50 down to 30 I think pretty quickly. I am sure that wasn't done on purpose though (sarcastic font).

I thought the same thing. It will be Chalmers or Josh Duncan night.

Will Caudle night would be pretty sweet.

There's a deal on cincysavers.com right now for Dilly for anyone interested. You can get a $40 gift card for $20. I have no idea if you can use it during the Chris Mack show, but maybe Dabott would know.

There are no restrictions on when these certificates can be used. The only restrictions on them are they can only be used for the non-alcohol portion of the bill and a max of 2 per table can be redeemed. For $20 you receive 2 $20 gift certificates, that's a great deal! Can't believe the first show is Monday! I hope to see many X fans at Dilly this season!
