What were the odds on FSU after the ACC championship?
C
Line opened at FSU -7.5 and jumped up all the way to FSU -10.5/-11 before kickoff. I won money on the night....could have won a lot more...but lost a little in the hopes of winning a lot. Can't complain. I had UCF and Oklahoma both on the ML. That was 5/1 and 6/1 in back to back nights. Was playing with house money tonight....course, the stupid Bengals gave some of that money back yesterday.

If you cannot tell, I want very much for him to lose. Just on principle.
The guy deserved to lose on sheer stupidity. If I'm that guy, I go to the bank and get a personal loan with the ticket as collateral. Or loan money from every relative and friend I know. He could have put $10K on FSU on the ML and won $3-4K. Moron.

That is a fan with principle, for whatever it's worth. He didn't want to bet against Auburn even if doing so were to guarantee him some money either way. Wow. That's a fan. That takes never betting against your team to a whole new level.

I'm now convinced Auburn lost that game out of his sheer stupidity. I appreciate being a fan....but you can't pass up on bettering yourself financially....unless the guy or his family is filthy rich. The guy is probably too young to have a family...bet his outlook would change if he had a little one crawling around in diapers. I would hope nobody would question my allegiance to X....but if I held a $50K future bet on X to win the national championship and they were playing in the finals, I'm hedging. I AM MAKING MONEY. I have to believe at some point tonight, the guy came to his senses...I really hope he did.
I was in Vegas the weekend of the Rams/Titans Superbowl. Every single person who had a huge futures ticket on the Rams to win the Superbowl (and the futures odds were high), were putting bets on the Titans to win. Being underdogs, they got great odds. The final line was Rams -7. Everyone pushed...except those people who had the futures. And they crushed Vegas that day.

Did anyone flip over to the other ESPN channels that had people basically talking over the game? It was about the stupidest thing I have ever seen.

I was stuck in the office and didn't get to see the game, but I read rave reviews of Sumlin's commentary.

I did and tried to get into it...after 5 minutes I just switched back.
Just let me watch the game wallowing in my football ignorance.

So awesome
So VERY awesome!!
It's so great for entertainment. His approval rating in the city will skyrocket, and all the people who hated him so much will instantly act like they loved him all along, and will develop a very quick (instant) "Everybody Makes Mistakes" philosophy.
I can't wait to see how he leaves this time. I hope it's during the half of a home game. The team goes into the half, and he announces that he's taking the job at Florida (or wherever). He then runs across the field and out of the stadium wearing Florida gear. He's one of the best bad-guy wrestlers in the game. He just keeps getting better and better with each act of despicable selfishness. I just hope he's able to top himself.
I love it. This is better than Tim Floydd returning to USC or Kelvin Sampson going back to IU. This is just all kinds of awesome. I hope it's true.

It's true, and it will be epic. Louisville football is going to crush some people. And if he doesn't stick around very long, so be it. Charlie effing Strong's teams bored me to tears (other than in the bowl season), and he didn't stay any longer than Petrino.

I do agree though that our team was so boring this past year. Reminded me of Glaser's teams of old.

Not exactly a flattering article on Bobby P's last Louisville tenure.

Aside from the fact that he lost the bet, this should tell you all you need to know about whether Skiba should have hedged.

Lol I love that graphic. If he put down $10,000 on FSU, he would have come up huge either way after an original $100 bet. Or was $500? Still, not much of a difference comparatively.

I think Bobby's "destination job" is the next young coed that walks into his office.

There's a "no motorcycle" clause in his contract. It's all good.

Perhaps, but Petrino needs more of a "no motorboating" clause.

Thought this was interesting. Football Bowl games are usually not good for the school's finances. From the Associated Press:
"AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn's trip to the BCS championship game cost $3.13 million, mostly for transportation and meals.
The university released a breakdown of expenses Saturday in response to open records requests. The Tigers lost 34-31 to Florida State at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
Auburn spent $1.68 million on transportation costs for 848 people, including the band and cheerleaders.
It cost Auburn $382,917 for transportation and meals for its 39-member official party — including faculty members and athletic department staffers. Names weren't released.
The school also spent $58,315 to absorb the cost of 211 unsold tickets.
Southeastern Conference teams get $1.975 million for participating in the BCS championship game. The league and each member school get a share of the remainder of the $18 million payout."
So how much does it cost the Borecats to absorb THOUSANDS of unsold tickets? Keep dreaming of Christmas, Santa.

This is what is so mind-numbingly moronic about bowl games. Teams literally lose millions playing in them, yet we continue to have them. The only people who make money off of the bowls, are the bowl sponsors themselves. The schools typically lose a ton. Yet, we continue to have them. It makes no sense at all. It's just a hemorrhaging of stupid. It's the most moronic postseason on the planet. YMCA t-ball has a better postseason set up.
I don't know for certain how much UC lost, but it was a lot. Probably at least in the $2 million range. I know Florida lost close to $4 million two years ago when they were in the Sugar Bowl against Louisville.
