Link (http://Auburn transfer Jordan Price has committed to La Salle, according to a report from Jon Rothstein, and he will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2014-2015. Price averaged 5.4 points as a freshman at Auburn, but after missing a month in the middle of the season, Price never returned to form.)

Also of note was the NCAA issuing a public reprimand of Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson (http://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2013-06-26/di-mens-basketball-committee-issues-reprimand-ole-miss-hender) regarding his actions following the Rebels’ NCAA tournament loss to La Salle. Henderson, in response to some verbal shots from fans, gave the “one-fingered salute” (http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/24/ole-miss-loses-then-marshall-henderson-flips-off-crowd/) while leaving the Sprint Center floor.
“A point of emphasis with the committee over the last several years continues to be ensuring that championship participants act in a manner that represents the highest standards of sportsmanship,” said Ron Wellman, chair of the Division I Men’s Basketball Committee, in the release.
“Mr. Henderson’s actions failed in this regard.”

_____
I consider him one of the most overrated returning players in the Country.

Earlier this week they reprimanded Bill Self for slamming his fist into the table where the press was seated. The tournament ended three months ago, and these are not issues that are still a big deal three months later. I'm not condoning their actions, but to wait three months to reprimand someone for something as trivial as that is a little silly.

One time when I agree with the NCAA's rulings. I can understand heat of the battle emotions, but there has to be a line drawn. Going ape on the fans, even if they were riding you the entire second half is not acceptable. Keep it classy, the fans get reminded of this before every game with the "fan atmosphere" speech.

Speaking of heat of the battle - I thought I just read where New Jersey wants to or has banned trash talking amongst athletes. How are they going to enforce that one.

And there wasn't even a laptop involved in that fist slamming of the table, right?

(Too soon for Majerus zings?)

my best guess is arbitrarily and as capriciously as possible?

Yes, the no-trash talking policy in New Jersey is being implemented under the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights. To me, that's not good.

Trash talk does not fall under the same umbrella as bullying. You can say that it is not acceptable, but you cannot say it is the same thing as bullying. Anyone who thinks it is strikes me as not having the proper understanding of either bullying or trash talk, and therefore shouldn't be in charge of handling either issue.

Both are issues (at least I feel that bullying is), but is not the same issue, and to treat it as if it were the same is not a good thing and an indication that neither will be effectively addressed.

Shouldn't they have done something eleven weeks ago, though?? I mean....really?? Now?? It's July, for crissake. All they did was issue a public reprimand. It seems kind of silly to write someone a letter saying you don't approve of their actions three months after their actions occurred.

The NCAA is auditioning for the role of nagging sibling/spouse, bringing up things that should have been a dead issue months ago. Way to go!!!!

I'm pretty sure the NCAA is using my wife's playbook for imposing sanctions. She will pull out some shit that happened years ago during one of our 'reflection sessions'.

If they had suspended Marshall Henderson for a couple of games, no one would have said they were too harsh. Even die-hard Ole Miss fans know what an a-hole he is. The 3-month wait is amazing. That should be like a T in basketball. You see it. You hand down the penalty. I saw a gif of the incident the other day. An assistant coach grabbed Henderson and pulled his arms down immediately. To reprimand him is just dumb. Do they really think that someone like Henderson gives a flip about a reprimand?

You should pay more attention.

I think all college students are stupid to some degree. It's part of being that age. It's just that when you're stupid, you gotta be smart about it. He's not being smart about it.

I feel like I was brilliant at being stupid back then.

I feel I was too. That's why I was able to do so much stupid shit and get away with it. The smarter you are about how stupid you are, the more stupid you can be and the more fun you can have.

Marshall Henderson's suspension has ended just in time for the start of practice. Although, to be fair, it does mention that he may sit a few games. Probably the exhibition games.

This suspension was drug related. I do know he is at least trying now to do something about his drug use issues. Knowing what little I know about him, I don't hold out much hope for him.

My big beef with Henderson though was a violation of a man-rule. On Labor Day weekend, I was next to him in the airport at a urinal. Dudes do not talk to the dude at the next urinal. Drug use: minor issue. Urinal banter: I lost any respect I had for him. He is growing his hair out, btw. If he doesn't cut it before the season starts, most people will not recognize him.

He's kind of a nut. Drugs may not be the problem. They may be the solution.

Did he ask you for a clean sample?
