It's the anniversity of a somewhat notable speech made by John F. Kennedy in Berlin. Below is a video of the speech. There are color versions, but none I found are as complete as this black and white one. Color technology was at least 20 years old at this point, yet b&w was still very prevalent. It amazes me that this was delivered only 50 years ago.

Yeah, I took German from Kindergarten through X, and still am confused by that. I thought that Berliner was a masculine word, and as such would not get the neutral "ein" but should have had "einen" instead. But my memory is getting rusty. Time to watch some WWII documentaries I guess.
