Apparently he shot one of his buddies after an argument at a strip club in February. Seems like an all-around great guy.

Nobody recruits classier players than Urban Meyer... Had the rapture occurred in 2007 or so, it would have been fun to be around the Gators team. Tebow would be sucked right up into heaven and every other single person would be screwed. Hating the garbage from Columbus will be as easy as ever in the coming years, no doubt.

As for Hernandez, it's hard to imagine that he isn't guilty of something here. I think the incident back in February sounds sketchy at best, because if I got my eye shot out by someone who I could easily identify, I'd have made damn sure that people would have heard about that by now. But it appears more and more at every update in this story that Hernandez is in very big trouble. Crazy how this time last year, you'd think the Patriots may have a TE duo that could turn out to be the best ever, and now, it's unclear whether either of them will play again.

Thankfully for them they have Tim Tebow.

I would guess if Bellicheat asks Tebow to play TE he would change his tune now. Why sign him otherwise when you already have Ryan Mallett as Brady's backup?

After yet another back surgery, it is looking like Gronk won't be break dancing anytime soon. With Hernandez though, I would be kind of surprised if he gets busted and given time in jail for this incident. I don't know the facts but if Ray Lewis gets away with murder and Harrison from the Colts gets away with shooting a guy I feel like the odds are in Aaron's favor here.

I don't know. There's really not enough information to do much more than speculate, but it definitely does not look good for Hernandez right now. Maybe you were being facetious, but if they find the necessary evidence, Hernandez isn't getting off just because he's in the NFL. And if he does get found guilty of anything and receives jail time, you'd have to think that at the very least, his New England Patriots career is over.

Welp, it has come out that he was with the victim earlier that night at a bar and that the security/video system in his house was purposely destroyed. Dude is probably done for.

A tad premature but things definitely not looking good for this guy. I get he was a talent with lots of pre-NFL issues, but to end up like this is just a pure waste. He still has to be tried in court though. The kid just signed a 5 year $40M deal and now he is probably done in the league.

Now we get to see whether Tebow makes a good TE or not, unless they really did hire him to either replace or move Mallett down or behind the guy. Lord, I just can't believe Mallett isn't a good enough backup.

Not sure what this is supposed to mean. It could happen anywhere. Hell, there is a former XU basketball player in prison right now after pleading guilty to manslaughter following a murder indictment. (Caveat: I still to this day can't imagine it's true, but he did plead guilty.)

McCauley also noted a series of text messages sent from Llyod’s cell phone to his sister.
"Did you see who I was with?" said the first message, at 3:07 a.m. on June 17. "Who?" she finally replied.
"NFL," he texted back, then added: "Just so you know."
It was 3:23 a.m. Moments later, Lloyd would be dead, McCauley said.

The thing that gets me is...how in the heck is this guy sending text messages as a car of gunman are leading him to his execution? That's something if I saw it happen in a movie would say "well there is no way that would really happen". This is one of the most fictional actual cases I've ever heard of...unbelievable stuff.

I heard today that a picture of Hernandez has surfaced where he's flashing the gang sign for the Bristol Bloods, or something like that. And I guess he has a Bloods tattoo on his hand. He sounds like a really upstanding citizen. I'm sure his neighbors in his upscale neighborhood are heartbroken that he won't be around awhile (and by awhile I mean the rest of his life because I don't think he's going to be a free man anytime soon.) What a total waste of lives.

Maybe police departments around the country can see when the Patriots were in town and determine if Hernandez is responsible for any unsolved murders during those times. Seems logical since he seems to like to rent cars before committing murder.

Dear Columnists: Enough With This “Patriot Way” Bullshit

It's been a while since we did a proper fisking of a terrible piece of sportswriting. Actually, we probably did it a few hours ago, but no matter: This putrid column (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9441388/nfl-new-england-patriots-stained-aaron-hernandez-saga?src=mobile) from ESPN's Ashley Fox deserves special recognition. Fox, whose archive reads like a First Take producer's brainstorming session, (http://search.espn.go.com/ashley-fox/) has taken the New England Patriots to task for employing an alleged murderer when they did not know that they were employing a potential alleged murderer.

How messed up is our society that this is even possible? Although poorly written, I think her point was that the Patriots have taken several chances on low character guys and this one finally bit them. This, however, is a problem with the NFL in general. I remember on draft day one of the experts saying "In the end talent wins out and the guy will get a chance to play".

I am a massive Colts fan even to the Jack Trudeau days. I was a Marvin Harrison and it took less than 12 months after retirement for his "gangsta" colors to show. He shot a guy with an extremely rare gun that was licensed to him and put it in a bucket at his carwash across the street from his bar where the alleged incident happened. Then a couple years later the victim dies in a drive by.

Sounds like the college shooting is coming back into the forefront. (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/03/massachusetts-authorities-dust-off-2007-shooting-in-gainesville/)

From the article:

A witness to the shooting does not identify Hernandez by name, but the witness said the shooter was a “‘Hawaiian’ or ‘Hispanic’ male who had a large muscular build, stood about 6-foot-3 or 6-foot-4, weighed about 230 or 240 pounds and had a lot of tattoos.”

Here’s the relevant portion of the police report: ”As they were waiting for the light to change, the Hawaiian football player and Reggie Nelson walked up to their car on the right side. Then without saying a work [sic], the Hawaiian pointed a small handgun in the front right window and fired five quick shots. [Randall] Cason saw [Corey] Smith slump over with blood coming out of the back of the head, at which time the Hawaiian and Nelson took off running towards McDonald’s.”
