They've finally decided to make Snipe the new assistant coach, with MOR as Director of Basketball Operations, look for the announcement in the next few days!! #XavierHoopsTakingOver

I'd love to be a fly on the wall for Snipe's first recruiting pitch

I was hoping that Glow could somehow be involved in recruiting. I think Xavier would quickly eclipse UK as a destination for blue chippers.

I would assume they are vetting candidates but from what I recall (from prior searches) there may be NCAA regulatory advantages to delaying an official hire or announcement. Broering has thrown a couple of names out on the premium board but I don't get the idea a frontrunner has emerged just yet.

Yeah, a coach could be unofficially hired but still uninhibited in his recruiting efforts. Good point, maybe that's the deal again.

Snipe doesn't show up in person. He just sends the kid a 38-page transcript of a message board post about why he should play at X. Of course, by page 4 it turns into an explanation of why Obama sucks. Kid commits to X by page 8 (if he's smart...if not, he goes to UC).

That would only apply to someone who is not currently an NCAA coach. I believe most (if not all) of the "hot list" members posted by Rick are currently on NCAA staffs.

Gabe DeArmond (Mizzou Rivals site) is reporting on Twitter that Rick Carter is leaving Missouri and joining the X staff.

THE Rick Carter?!?
Sorry, anyone know anything about this chap?
I know he has strong Michigan ties and was a candidate for the job last year as well.

Anyone think the Mizzou fans will get all riled up losing one of their assistants (to X)?

He did. Also Carter coached Big Stain at WMU.

Looking at Scout's Top 100 for 2014, there are 0 players in Michigan. It's anybody's guess at how many good players are just outside the top 100 in the area.
2015's list (only top 40 listed as of now) has SG Eric Davis at #27 from Saginaw, MI and #38 PF Trevor Manuel from Lansing. Davis is 6'3", 161 lbs. Manuel is 6'8", 200 lbs as a Sophomore. Wow.

So Carter is no longer employed at Mizzou, but doesn't have an offer from Xavier. Meantime Haith has made comments that imply they already have his replacement in the bag.
How would Mizzou have his replacement in the bag unless they knew he was leaving and how would they know he was leaving before he got an offer to go elsewhere?
Am I missing something here or does it sound like he may have been let go?

By this math, we are full for both years....

Of course, Semaj is one of those schollies for next year...

Thank you. So there is definitely one opening, and the ways things can go with young people and just transfers in general, I guess you just keep on recruiting as much as you can because the landscape is always (potentially) changing.

We don't have any ships left for this upcoming season. For the 2014/15 season, we are also full unless Semaj leaves early. Justin Martin and Big Stain will graduate this upcoming school year, and would be eligible to transfer and play immediately under the grad school transfer rules.
This also assumes both Swift and Sumner remain committed to Xavier.

Reading between the lines on the asst. coach goings on, I think I get what's going on. Just trying to speculate if it's worth it.

This is also considered a "quiet period" in the recruiting process. If Xavier waits to name Carter as a coach, or even a candidate, and Missouri has let him go, he is essentially a "free agent" bound to no school. He will then technically be permitted to speak with recruits on behalf of Xavier or any other school if he so chooses.
I think this is the reason why we are hearing he has not received an offer from Xavier. The "quiet period" ends soon, and I expect Xavier to make their announcement at such time.
