Don't look now but Justin is playing a big part in Valencia's push for a Title over in the Euro Leagues. Justin was also recently awarded the Trofeo al Efuerzo (sort of an improved player trophy i think). (Link (http://instagram.com/p/Zkt2L6Gg6w/))

The figure on his trophy looks rather feminine. Europeans...

I think the translation is "Trophy of Estrogen"

Justin Doellman is still my all time favorite Xavier player, so it's great to see him doing well.

The trophy is extremely weak.
From the weak haircut to the feminine figure to the finger roll off the top of the fingers that thing just sucks.

from Fellamuskie:
Barcelona (13-6, 5th in Spain's Liga Endesa; 3-2, 3rd in Euroleague Top 16 Group E)
11.7 pts, 4.7 rebs, 1.6 asts
Doellman made a big move this summer, signing with Barcelona, one of Europe's top clubs. He's one of the top scorers and second in minutes. A top-50 player in Europe, maybe even higher.

I loved Doellman at XU. Extremely sound fundamentally. Did everything well. Underrated as hell.

Probably higher. He's really, really good at basketball.

I remember when we got the commitment from the unrated big white kid from Ryle. I was not particularly excited by that commitment. Turned out pretty well!

All the guys on those teams complimented each other so well. I'm glad to hear they're all doing so well.

Happened to be in Madrid last Sunday and went to see Justin lead Barcelona versus Real Madrid in the Spanish finals. Justin was terrific in the losing effort (http://www.fcbarcelona.com/basketball/basketball-team/detail/article/fc-barcelona-have-backs-against-the-wall-real-madrid-take-game-two-10080). Barcelona was down 20 early, Justin tried to be a one man show, but it ended 100-80 Madrid.
Fun to see some differences compared with college ball and the NBA. Wider court means things are more open and it is much more one-on-one. Shooters, when they took good shots, had nice form and Redford-esque swishes. However, there was a quite a bit of drive into traffic and put up an off-balance shot and an occasional "what were you thinking" on an errant pass or other play ... the NBA it's not and European football it's not. The good plays were appreciated by the crowd. Crowd was quite lively especially the "berzerkers" who cheered the entire game. Justin's play was noticeably more calm and controlled than some of the other players. He finished with a cool 24.
It was just something fun I happened to be able to do. Glad for Doellman and our Xavier professionals, but I bet Justin wishes he wasn't down 0-2 in the best of 5 series.

Show off.
I was in Batavia last week. You don't see me bragging about it.

He was only in Madrid.... you were in Batavia? The real Batavia? Really? Please tell us about that!
Justin was always one of my favorites. It began when he took a cheap shot to the chops and got bloodied up pretty badly in his first year or two. Came back later in the game, which I didn't expect. Tough kid with a great game.
Edit: for clarity.

Sorry, if I had said "only in Madrid", would that have been more clear? My bad, then. When it's obvious (if only in my mind) I didn't see the need for a sarcasm font.
(But have you been to Batavia? Pretty sweet!)

My Grandpa lived in Batavia eons ago (actually East Batavia Heights). I'm a grandpa now with one of my grandkids a college grad himself. Batavia isn't now what it used to be.

In what sense is the court wider? I'm assuming that the Spanish league uses a FIBA court...and the FIBA court is a foot shorter and narrower than the NBA/NCAA court.

I haven't really been there since I was a kid (and I'm not even sure why), but I'm sure it's not Madrid.
I wonder what Justin makes over there? Hope it's a boatload. Loved watching him run that baseline looking for an open shot from the corner.

Good question Smileyy ... it was mostly an impression that the court looked wider due to the more one-on-one. I'll have to look up official dimensions.
And to my friend XU-87 ("hey, I'm at Wrigley already sitting at the bar, why aren't you here immediately?"), I happen to visit Batavia most everyday for work ... Batavia IL, that is. Two more days in Zaragoza and then back to Madrid for the flight home.
Unfortunately for Justin and his Barcelona teammmates, they fell 3 straight to Real Madrid. Justin clearly shined, but not enough to bring home a title.

I'm pretty sure in Europe the three point line is closer than it is in the NBA, so it might at least give off the appearance of a wider court. I guess one of us could look this all up to get a definitive answer, but I'm #teamlazy.

Are you claiming Grant is related to Dolezal?!? Big Portland connections for both of them, so maybe!
