Each individual team seems to have it's own personality. On an even more general level, each sport also seems to have it's own personality.
It's not as popular as men's basketball or football, but I don't see how anyone could not love college baseball and college softball. I know people hate the school, but it's an example of how baseball teams are collections of individuals unlike any other....

They suck at baseball, so they have to have something to hang their hats on.

You do realize we were 0-3 against them this year right?
As far as the video very cool. I remember a school last year that did a deer hunting thing during a rain delay that was pretty classic.

All midweek games. Pretty meaningless. They were 6-18 in a bad league.

Within the past few years, there are always antics during a rain delay. There always have been, but they're more over the top now. Sometimes it can get frustrating. There are so many games, and they last a long time, and you just want to get on with it. We can't play in the rain because we don't want the players to get wet or get hurt. Yet, whenever there is a rain delay, it's time for all the players to run around on the tarp like it's a slip n slide. The last rain delay I was at, they actually played a pantomime game on the tarp. We could have just been playing the real game.
Having said that, I still get a kick out of it. Here's one from Nebraska that went viral.

That is not the only reason you don't play during rain. While safety is a part of it, there are multiple other aspects (quality of play, preserving the quality of the field, etc.)

Much like UC, preserving quality of play is not an issue with the team I work with.

As a side note, UC finally fired their head coach. How does a coach keep his job for 17 years with a career record of 434-528-1? That's crazy. Also a real slap in the face to him that he has worked with less than the NCAA limit of scholarships and gets canned the year they reinstate the full allotment.

College baseball is big business in the SEC. I went to an Ole Miss game where there were about 10K people, and I went to an MSU game where there were 14K and change. A buddy of mine that played at Purdue went with me to Ole Miss. He couldn't believe the crowd. He guessed the paid attendance for a full year at Purdue was about 500. I said, "You mean, per game." He said, "No, that's for the full year." Also, the Ole Miss starter was a guy named Mike Mayers. It is pronounced Mike Myers. There was an Ole Miss fan that stood motionless in the outfield stands the whole game with this mask on.

It will be a pretty good baseball league. Much better than the Big East (old or new). Not that UC will have anything to do with that.

The Big West, ACC and SEC are the big baseball conferences. There are good teams in other leagues, but those leagues probably average about what a good minor league team would average. If not more. At Ole Miss and Mississippi State, baseball typically averages more fans per game than men's basketball.
Believe it or now, NCAA women's softball games actually had similar ratings to the majority of men's college basketball games on ESPN this year. Granted, there were only a few games on per week, whereas men's basketball would have as many as twenty on the various networks in one day, but it is telling that the games that were shown scored good ratings. Expect to see more softball on in the coming years.
Also, a lot of schools like Purdue may have free general admission, so selling 500 reserved seats sounds about right. I believe that's what Louisville does. Louisville also sells beer, though. So, if you let people in for free, and those people buy a beer, that's about the same was what a ticket to an Olympic sport would be.
When I was in school, I think Xavier had free admission to baseball. They didn't sell any tickets at all.

Softball is tough to watch. Pitching is just too dominant.
