I'd say that's fair. We have lot of unknown quantities factored in to a team that was pretty bad last year.

Wait for it.......you know it's coming.......

and here it is........I'm glad X is not ranked because they can............come on.......everybody knows what's next.....

SNEAK UP ON TEAMS!!!! Woo-HOO!!!!! Whatever, ESPN. X doesn't care about pre-season anything. Wait until March and see where they end up. That's what matters.

I'm okay with it as well, pre-season rankings are a bunch of horse malarkey anyways!!

Does Vegas give odds on teams being ranked at some point during a season? If so, I'd bet a bunch on X.

I'm surprised Creighton is not ranked with McDermott coming back.

Remember.....it's ESPN.

If they had the TV contract, they'd have 3 teams in the Top25.

ESPN doing their best to dump all over the Big East.

Agree. When was the last time the Big East only had one team in the ESPN Pre-Season Top 25. ESPN is portraying the "new" Big East as New Coke--okay, but not as good as the classic. Boo ESPN!!!

We missed the NIT.

Has anyone ever been anywhere close to being ranked in the preseason following a year where they missed the NIT??

Maybe that's why we didn't make the NIT. Maybe we were invited, but turned it down so we would be unranked and able to sneak up on people the following year.

Half the teams that finish in the rankings don't start in the rankings. The strategy works!!!

UConn checks in at #21. I stand corrected. Sort of.

Well, losing a first round NIT game gets a team the top spot.

Not that I really care about the NIT, but we were completely snubbed from the NIT. Did you see some of those other teams profiles that made it in ahead of us? We were the only team in D-1 college basketball not to play in the NCAA, much less the NIT with 4-5 Top 50 RPI wins.

Not only did we not make the tournament we didn't make the NIT. I'm as big of a homer as the next guy, but anyone surprised by this is just not being realistic. Preseason rankings are largely based on the previous season results.

I do believe that is a first. Well, at least they made the NIT as a top seed, I guess. They win the national title and start off ranked #3rd. They then fail to make the NCAAs, yet enter the season #1.

I'm not surprised we're not ranked. They spend about thirty minutes on this....if that. Thirty minutes of work will result in noticing the #1 recruiting class with the largest number of NBA prospects. It won't make you notice a team that missed the NIT.

In reality, everyone starts off at zero. Miami FL wasn't ranked to start the year. Kentucky was. So were NC State, Missouri, Florida State and Baylor. None of those teams ended up being all that good, and FSU and Baylor pretty much ended up sucking. In fact, I'd forgotten they had been ranked at all until I looked it up. Your preseason ranking has absolutely nothing to do with where you end up. it's fun to look at, but it doesn't mean anything.

Exactly the same as before. He is an unknown. Our recruiting class rankings may change but that is about it.
