Xavier has beaten Louisville and defending national champions Indiana in their last two games. The spring gets no easier, however, since X goes to Akron this weekend and hosts Notre Dame next weekend. This has to be one of the most difficult Spring schedules in the country.

If regular soccer runs August - November, what does spring soccer mean?
Is it all just exhibition games, and are their seniors playing in it who won't even be on the team next year?
Just curious.

Curious about that as well?

They are all exhibitions. It's effectively a preseason schedule, but it's done in the Spring. I'm assuming that's because it would be difficult for schools to schedule such events in the summer. As far as seniors go, their careers ended in the Fall. There are no current seniors that play in the Spring.

Xavier is going to be really good.

I have been attending Xavier mens and womens soccer for years and this is the first I've heard of spring soccer. Is there a schedule out there somewhere?

I hope they do the Scarf thing again next year for tickets. That was a great promo.

Not that I can find. I know they play Akron this weekend, I'm pretty sure it's at Akron, then Notre Dame comes to Victory Parkway on April 20 at 7:30. The Notre Dame game should have a decent crowd as it is the main event in the Blue Chip Showcase (basically where colleges go to look at players).

Just to reiterate this strength of schedule, Xavier tied Bowling Green. They beat Louisville, the 2011 national champions. They beat Indiana, the defending national champions. They play Akron, 2010 national champions, and Notre Dame who won the Big East last year.
